Has stood the test of time

My husband has had this for over 7 years and still loves it. The razor handle and brush have held up really well. He keeps them in the shower and they don’t rust or anything. After dropping it one to many time in the shower he has bent it up and now needs a new one. He has tried a couple others through the years and kept going back to this one. We are getting another one, so that tells you it’s definitely worth the purchase.

I received this set today. This is my first time using an old school shaving system. I was sick of paying out the ying yang for 4 blade systems that lasted 4 shaves and I always struggled to get a complete bare bum shave.

For newbies:
There were no instructions at all so I spent about 30 minutes on the web reading up on prepping the brush, how to use the razor and lathering..THAT was worth it as I would have likely butchered myself first try and tossed it. For what it is worth, I followed alot of "Nich Shaves" on Youtube videos. Be prepared to take a shower first and the entire process to take about 30-45 minutes. You will likely make a mess and lather your nose more than your face at first..but adjustment is easy.

I did knick myself a few times. But, I am really impressed with the entire gear down to the holder. I look forward to future shaves!

11/17/17 - Been a couple of years since purchase. I have done my best to maintain both the brush and razor. The only thing I would complain about is the razor itself is leaving a streak directly center of the cut within past few month. Not sure what has happened and hasn't been dropped, no build up I can see.

When I first pulled the brush out of the packaging I was surprised by how heavy it is, it took a few times using it to get used to the weight but it feels amazing! I highly recommend you follow the suggestions they send you regarding proper brush care. (They mention using a mild shampoo prior to first use) I lost a bristle or two my first shave, and that was it! I purchased this set because my old safety razor broke, but I'm so glad that I went with a set with a high quality brush. Now onto the razor; my favorite thing about this razor is that you can adjust the opening, allowing you to set how aggressive of a shave you want...it is a bit lighter than my previous razor, but I think it allows for better control when shaving. The materials used are good quality, and feels like it will hold up for years. There's not a whole lot more that can be said about it. It's a lightweight butterfly razor that works really well.

If you've been using a safety razor for years, you'll love it. If you're thinking about switching I highly recommend this one, just make sure that you do your research and understand that you can't use this the same way you would a multi-blade razor, and you may cut yourself the first couple times you shave.

This is an outstanding set from the quality provider of shaving products, Parker. I was drawn to this set due to this unique classic horizontal shaving stand. Convinced I could not purchase it any other way, I bought the set.

My first surprise was the Parker 29L Razor. meticulously engineered and solid in manufacture, this piece of double edge genius shaves like a dream. It has become my favorite razor, and make-no-mistake, I am comparing with my other razors costing approximately $70 alone, and this gem out-shaves them all!

Although I previously acquired a Parker premium Silver-tip Boar Bristle shaving brush, I prefer this brush, since bristles are stiffer and hold up to firm British shaving soaps I use, and I find it easier to rinse clean than my more expensive Silver-tip Boar Bristle Brush.

In summary, I love the unique design of this horizontal set, the unsurpassed quality, and compact size of the shaving stand. Collectively, the set is both attractive and functional in a classic sort-of-way, yet, with as sense of modern allure.

Super easy to replace the blades it has a butterfly mechanism that twists open so you can change them.
The brush and the razor have a good weight to them and fit nicely in your hand.

With safety razors you get a much closer shave which means that it last longer and looks nicer, make sure when you first start using one that you don't try to go as fast as you can or your going to end up cutting your face.

This set came with the shave brush the razor with a few extra blades, and the stand. Which all fits nicely together and looks great on the counter. To me seeing this on the counter looks much better than seeing a disposable just tossed on the counter.

Also its a good idea when you're done with your brush to rinse it out well and set it aiming down in the stand that way it can dry off. instead of aiming up were it holds all the water in and will eventually probably start to smell.
I Love that these razors don't start to rust like a few disposables start to within a few days.

I have been trying to go zero waste, and I got this razor to replace the disposable ones I used to use. The razor itself if great. Super easy to use and easy to change the blade. The brush is nice, but the first time I got it wet, it smelled like a zoo. I suppose this is to be expected from something that's made from animal hair, but I did not like it. After several uses with a peppermint scented shaving cream, the smell has subsided. It might be possible to speed up the de-stinking by washing it several times (letting it air dry in between) before using it.

Faulty. Razor isn’t sitting straight on one side is less then the other. Couldn’t return it. Shame as is expensive item and won’t be used never again.
