"The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes" is a really fine collection of short stories regarding the various adventures of the famous mythical detective. This, of course, are not all of the Sherlock Holmes stories. It is a series of short stories. They are very well written in the late British Victorian styles. There is no profanity or obscenity. Many of the stories are by clever. By necessity they are abbreviated versions of true police mystery investigations. However the style is excellent.
I have been reading Sherlock Holmes mysteries in the order of publication. I have enjoyed every one of them. I suppose I should emphasize that I am a fan of British Victorian Literature. As police investigations they are seldom complete. It is the writing that I enjoy as much as the mysteries.
In the event that one has heard of Professor Moriarty in regard to Sherlock Holmes, he does finally appear here in the last story, "The Final Problem". I suppose I should also mention that I have found all of these stories on line at no cost. However for .99, I was very glad to have purchased this collection. I am reading and listening to a corresponding audiobook of Sherlock Holmes stories and am really enjoying he experience.
In summary, I have really enjoyed this fine collection. These are stories that adults and children can enjoy. Each story can be read in one or two reasonably length sittings. I am really glad to have come across this collection. Thank You for taking the time to read this review.

I picked this up to have a nice Kindle edition of this portion of the Holmes works. It's nicely produced and formatted for the Kindle, and worth getting, particularly as long as the publisher continues to offer this special edition here on Amazon at zero cost.
Be aware, though, that this is far from the complete Holmes stories. My recommendation for someone wanting a complete collection is to pick up this Kindle e-book: Sherlock Holmes: The Ultimate Collection . It's selling for a modest 99 cents at the present time here on Amazon, and it has essentially everything (see my review for the details: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1XW9M0NM1AQSK/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00DCD53C2).
For reference, the following is a complete listing of the Holmes works, from the website sherlockian dot net.

Very good collection of Sherlock Holmes adventures. Any Sherlock can will enjoy. Even reading the same tale for a second time is still satisfying.

This a great collection of Sherlock Holmes short stories. It was a collection I had never read before except for The Final Problem which I had read before. I love seeing how everything plays out and what means Holmes employs to solve a case. I like seeing how Holmes' s mind works and when he explains the solution how obvious it seems even though I couldn't figure it out even if I wanted to. I love mysteries and Holmes is one of my favorite characters. In love the fact that because Holmes dies at the end of the final problem the fan outcry was so great that Doyle had to bring him back to life again for more adventures. Talk about loving a character, there are still to this societies devoted to Sherlock Holmes. He is even popular today with tv series in England and one in the US. That is a testament to the characters and stories that they have endured all this time and are going strong. So if you are a Holmes fan then you will like these stories if not they are a good place as any to start. Come on Watson the game is afoot.
