The very first consideration is; where is it made? Would a country that has no conscience about using toxic materials to make infant toys care about what's in your vitamins?? It's a safe bet not! So, my vitamins have to be made in the US, Australia, or Canada. These are made here in the US.
The packaging is informative and professional, no bells and whistles to distract you from what you need to know. It appeals to my right brain. The vitamins are not colored, they are white, they have no odor that I can detect, and are in a nice clear vege cap, not pressed and bound and flattened into a tablet that will most likely leave my body in much the same state it entered. And not in a gelatin cap, no bovine hooves with my morning vitamins thanks.
It will be quite a while before I can determine if this supplement has any affect on the neuropathy I purchased it for. It's not a narcotic pain med, effects are not to be expected immediately, and will most likely progress subtlety. ALA is a powerful antioxidant, and so it's valuable for that alone and has been part of my supplement program for a long time anyway-just not in adequate dosage for my current needs.
These are in effective, clinically substantiated dosage. The maker sends a follow up EM to ask if I am pleased with my purchase. This is a practice I am seeing more and more, and I have to say it's appreciated. If they are willing to poke the bear, AFTER they have received my money, I have to think they have some confidence in their product. I would buy future products from this company. If they are US based, without any obvious undesirable qualities ( dyes, odors, outrageous claims, labeling designed to appeal to a toddler, exorbitant unsustainable cost), I can find what I need, and they stay competitive, I will stay a customer. I do prefer to stay with a line if all other factors are equal.
So, yes, I can recommend for serious, research based supplement consumers!

Some have asked whether this is R or S type.
I am reposting a reply from a rep from SuperiorLabs.
This may clear up any confusion one might have.

Our product does in fact contain R-ALA. Our ALA uses a mix of 50/50 R and S type. It is very difficult to manufacture a full R type ALA with out using excipients due to the consistency of the ingredient. What we have done to make it possible to not use the harmful excipients is a mixture of both R and S which are both safe and effective unlike many excipients. Now as you probably already know R has a better bioavailability meaning that you can take less of the R type and get the same results as you would having a greater mg of the S.

Our capsules hold 600mg of ALA ( 300 S type and 300R type). Most supplement companies that sell pure R type have a dosage of 400mg and use excipients almost 100% of the time. The reason for our higher dosage is to make up for the less potency of the S type, the main difference is we do not use any harmful excipients.

If you are not happy for any reason we stand by our 100% money back policy. If you are not satisfied I will make sure you are taken care of immediately.

I have been using Alpha Lipoic Acid from one provider for years and it has had a beneficial impact on my blood glucose level. I switched to the SuperiorLabs brand recently for a couple of reasons.
First, I like the fact there are very few ingredients, so you get less "fillers," which means you are getting a purer product.
Second, compared to the product I used previously, it is comparable to a "super" brand, with the same amount of ALA in each capsule.
Three, by cutting out the "fillers," SuperiorLabs is able to pass on the savings to the consumer.
To sum up, I have seen a stabilizing of my sugar levels, a reduction in my sugar levels and overall improvement. It is my opinion that this product has kept me from becoming insulin dependent. All of us have different metabolisms, so what has helped me might or might not help you, but it's worth a try. Although I am unaware of any adverse side effects, please, consult your doctor first. That is standard operating procedure for beginning or ending the use of any product.
