I decided it was time to upgrade my surround sound speakers, and I would start with my fronts and center speakers. I had to keep my budget under $1000. I spent several weeks researching and ended up focusing on Klipsch. During my research I found that there is no middle ground with Klipsch reviewiers; people either hate’em or they love’em (although most loved’em)… and the reason some hated’em was because Klipsch uses horns to help deliver the high end frequencies and some reviewers felt overwhelmed with too much brilliant high end. The ‘high end’ issue made me a bit skittish. But on the other hand I might be one of those people that love’em. I am an experienced studio sound tech with a critiqued ear and I am fussy about my audio quality.

So I figured I had 30 days to return them if I didn’t like them and I pulled the trigger on the R-26F for fronts and the R-25C for the center speaker. Well guess what? I won’t be returning them. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I loved’em. There is more noticeable high end with these Klipsch speakers, but certainly not overbearing. I think the subtle higher end adds to the dimension of the mix. I hear things that I could not hear with my previous speakers… like the tinkling high end frequencies of running water or falling rain, the sounds of glass breaking or small stones dropping to the ground. I am very impressed with these speakers. The mids sound nicely balanced, and the lows are also very good for 6 ½ inch woofers. But I’m using a subwoofer to deliver my lows on a 7.2.4 dolby atmos setup, so that's not an issue with me.

So why are there a certain amount of people that don’t like the high end with Klipsch? I can only come to the conclusion that some are more sensitive to high frequencies than others. Fortunately I am not one of those people. I think these are great sounding speakers for the money, and I also love the looks. I will be upgrading the rest of my setup with Klipsch in the future.

These speakers are awesome! I wasn't sure if I wanted to pay an extra $275 each speaker to get the R-28F but after hearing the sound of these in the Magnolia section at BB I decided to take them home, with a center channel, 10 inch sub and rear surround speakers... oh and a Yamaha receiver. Yup kinda just went all out!! My test movie was Saving Private Ryan and I would give it a 10 .... then I decided to play the Finding Nemo soundtrack and I just melted in my couch!! They look pretty kick ass and sound even better

These are a very nice addition to my home theater. I've been slowly adding to my Klipsch collection over the last year, and When I saw these listed for $175 each I couldn't pass it up. I was originally planning on running the RP280F as my front channels, as the rest of my setup is all reference premier. I was pleasantly surprised when I plugged these in. I will preface this review with a few things, I mostly use these for music and gaming, but it is my primary system for movies as well. Music I listen to ranges from classic rock and acoustic to more modern rock, rap, and beat driven music. The rest of my system includes a Klipsch RP450C center channel, 2 RP150 bookshelf speakers as surround, and driven by an Onkyo receiver at 110W/channel

I was concerned that the 6.5 inch drivers would be too small for how large the room is, but these things can still pound. In fact, I don't think I even need the 8" Onkyo sub that came with my receiver. The low/mid-range is the most impressive thing about these I think. When I crank these the sound is really engulfing. You can hear and feel every little detail.

I know many people complain about the highs on Klipsch speakers, but it doesn't bug me at all. They are a very crisp, clean high that is not drowned out by the fantastic lows. Every hi-hat hit and every little detail in movies is there.

Overall I would highly recommend anything from Klipsch. I've yet to have a poor product from them, but if you are on the fence between something more expensive or these guys, you will be very happy with these. And in my case, I saved $900 over the alternative I was planning on getting, so I am ecstatic.

These speakers are plenty loud for medium to small rooms. Clear bright and punchy with plenty of detail and no distortion even in the 90 decibel range. Great buy, puts other more expensive speakers to shame. Also have the R25C and R15M's as surrounds. I'm loving it! These just need a few hours of break in, don't know why some say 50 hours or loud volume, mine opened up nicely after a couple hours.

I bought these locally, but wanted to share my thoughts. I had some reservations, as many people said they didn't sound as good as some of the lesser known brands, and that they were a downgrade from the previous models.

I am using them as the front speakers in my home theater and I think they sound fantastic. High tones sound crisp and clear, and they offer a good amount of bass, that is well defined.

What am I comparing these to you might ask? Well, that is a good question. My previous speakers were some Sansuis from the mid 1980s. My parents had bought them for their stereo, then in the mid 90s I swiped them, and had been using them ever since. They sounded great, but didn't have the level of detail these do. Of course they are also 30 years old. :-)
