If you're like me, you might struggle to "make small talk" with most people around you. Small talk always felt clumsy and awkward to me. I thought as a teenager I would get better at those little chats with people, but now that I'm an adult the awkwardness never left!
It does not have to be that way! I read the Social Skills Guide: Small Talk, and started putting things into practice over the last few days. I found I started to actually engage people more - among people I didn't know but also with friends and family! I feel more friendly and confident as well.
It's an easy read and you can start improving your small talks with people the same day! So awesome!

Reads like a grade C college essay
I only read the first two chapters but this book is poorly written/edited (see typo in photo) and vague. It reads like a grade C college essay.

I have read this book and found it most disappointing. I kept reading until the end, not because I liked it, but because I thought there must be something good in it. It isn't!
There's a lot of talking around the bush and if you think you are being offered the tools to do some good small talking, it's better to look elsewhere. I cannot understand why this booklet already got 27 5-star ratings...
Through the booklet I got the opinion that Betty Bohm is just a someone who wanted to publish an ebook to earn some extra on the line. What is her expertise, anyway?
Do yourself a favour and source another guide, preferably from someone thrustworthy!
Best regards,
Dominique

I'd say this book doesn't quite touch on the nitty gritty like some other "small talk" books I've read. However, where this book shines is through its given scenarios and importance on perspective when engaging other strangers. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to delve into the mysterious world of elevator talk!

I recently became a Realtor and this book is a great refreshment on small talk. I have been studying sales a ton at work and how to close people once I have them as a client.
... but they don't really teach how to make connections with people. This book will help me because if I small talk more, I will make more friends, and they will give me more business.
I loved this book because of the dialogues that might happen and the questions it asked me. The questions really made me think and that has given me a lot of confidence.

I don't feel like i will be better at small talk, which may be a personal failing rather than a failing of the book. It was written well and the conversations and quips were entertaining and well analyzed. However, i think my problem is being creative in knowing what to say or ask, rather than understanding what small talk is or mechanically how it works or fails. However, I did pick up a few tips and things to look out for, so it was a worthwhile investment of time.

Didn't get anything out of this book. It explained the concept of small talk, not what I was looking for. I was looking for ways to start small talk with others and some suggestions. This book did not provide this kind of info.

Loved the Social Guide: Small Talk – You can do it, from Betty Bohm. Being on the shy side myself, is never easy for me to start a conversation and this book has given me some golden nuggets on developing this skill. The skill of small talk is a very important one and I know that most people are often uncomfortable and struggle making small talk in social settings. If you are looking to network and connect with great people for getting better business, careers and/or friends, you should really start learning some small talk skills and this is a great book for that.

I was looking for a book that would help me help my clients with small talk. This book is ridiculous and disappointing. This book is for someone who has no idea what small talk is. It's small talk for dummies. It's a quick read because it's short, but there is no helpful information pertaining to how to connect with someone or topics/phrases to pull from to deepen connection. Finally, you are told to go to www.smalltalkskills.com/book-resources throughout the book. That annoyed me. I would not buy this book. Save your money!

Betty Bohm has written a solid book on the ins and outs of small talk. Small talk has never strong point, and me in a social environment was always a lot like a penguin in the Sahara. Over the past couple years I have made the effort to learn social skills, and have read many books that have helped me. This is one. Recommended!

Being a language tutor, it is always difficult to teach my students how to make 'real' conversations. This book provides a really useful tool for language learners on how to do small talk in English. I also find it beneficial for my own use because I am not a natural small talker and I often find some social situations awkward. This guide has definitely provided some practical tips for people like me and I have already tried out some of the methods. An excellent book!

This book defines small talk and discusses the reasons for engaging in it. However, this book is not practical. It does not teach how one should perform small talk. As a result, I found this book unhelpful and feel I've wasted my money and time on it. I am very disappointed.

Very good points made in this book. Slightly repetitive which was great for memorization. Recommend this book to anyone looking to improve small talk skills.
