    The build quality of these speakers is absolutely amazing. The Black Cherry cabinetry is stunning. The grilles are precision stamped and magnetically couple to the face plane of the speaker. The binding posts are solid. If you are worried about ordering these from Amazon due to weight & size ... don't. The packaging engineers at Martin Logan did their home work and my pair arrived undamaged via UPS Ground. Each box is approx. 80 lbs. The exterior of both of my boxes were in pretty clean shape which leads me to believe these didn't travel down the miles of usual conveyors. The internal bracing and isolation of the poly inserts appear properly sized and have the right density.
    So again - put some trust in Martin Logan making these safe for customary shipping carriers and their nonsense.

    I've read a few horror stories on the interwebs about white-ish staining on the cone surrounds. My set were pristine with no staining whatsoever. Like you'd expect for speakers in the $3000 and above category, these speakers are wrapped in a soft protective layer and then covered in plastic.

    From a performance standpoint - these speakers needs a good 20 hours (minimum) to settle in (break-in). Bass is punchy, the motion ribbon tweeters are accurate and well balanced. I quite frankly was expecting a lot of harshness and bite. What you read on the interwebs is dead wrong. These sound pretty damn good straight out of the box and sound even better & better between 20 and 100 hours of moderate use.

    Treble = articulate, precise and not 'toppy'
    Mid Range = magnificent voicing - especially recognizable with female vocals
    Bass = one word - Perfect! Just make sure to allow for a proper clearance distance away from a wall.

    I have a Sony ES 77ES amp that can properly drive speakers, even down to 2 ohm loads. My system is a 2 channel music system. I would imagine than any high-end AV Receiver (Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer...etc) will drive these in a home theater arrangement with authority. My previous B&W's were great but sometimes required a sub-woofer to fill in the missing bottom-end - on some material. Not with these Motion 60XTs. The sub went back into it's box.

    I can't recommend these speakers enough. And if you have any pre & post purchase support questions or needs, Martin Logan's customer service is second to none.

    Buy these speakers before tariffs impact the pricing!

    Overall I am thoroughly enjoying these speakers! They arrived well-packaged with minimal shipping damage. Being around 66 pounds per speaker, it might be helpful to have someone else nearby to help as needed. Once the speakers were out of the packaging, all that was left to do was install the feet with the included hardware, attach the grills (optional) and move them into place.

    Martin Logan recommends a 72 hour break-in period (as with most of their speakers) by playing content at around 90 decibels, which is fairly loud for most folks. What you'll notice as the break-in commences is a more open sound, deeper and more articulate bass and more pristine highs. Though I am still in the tail-end of the break-in period, the speakers already sound much fuller and detailed than my previous pair of front left/rights (ML Motion 12's).

    Before I purchased these speakers, I auditioned many others at Magnolia and a local audio store. Between all of the other speakers I listened to (KEF, B&W, Def Tech, GoldenEar, Magnapan, and others) only one set of speakers came close to beating out the ML's - the GoldenEar Triton 5's. However, these speakers did not pass the WAF (Wife Approval Factor) for looks, so I happily ended up purchasing the 60XT's.

    I already have a home theater comprised of ML speakers, so these fit right in to the current setup. These speakers are voice-matched to the other Motion series speakers, even the ones with the non-XT folded motion tweeter (the XT tweeter in these is larger than the standard folded motion tweeter in the rest of the Motion range). The only other upgrade I plan on doing in the near future is upgrading my center channel to the Motion 50XT to have even more detailed sound for movies.

    To sum up, these speakers, though still breaking in, have definitely surpassed my old set in clarity, power, and bass extension. If you can grab a pair of these while on clearance price before they are sold out, I would highly recommend it. Otherwise, the newer 60XTi set is also just as good, with slightly different looks and of course a higher MSRP. I hope Martin Logan continues to expand and perfect their Motion line of speakers, as they have proven their worth and will be sticking around in my theater setup for a while longer.

    The finish on these speakers is smooth as glass. The sound is full and detailed — I heard things from my CD collection that I had not heard before. The bass is fairly good, though I plan to add a subwoofer or two to get a lower bottom. The speakers come with small rubber disks on the bottom; for use on carpet you need to screw on supplied metal bars with option for metal spikes that secure the speakers from tipping. There are two sets of cable connections on back — you can leave the jumper bars in place and just connect cables to two connectors via banana plugs, bare wire or spade connections. Or, you can remove the jumper bars and attach two sets of cables — each set of terminals has its own crossover, one set for higher frequencies and the other set for lower frequencies. The two sets of connectors also allow for “bi-amping” if you choose. Front grills are sturdy metal that attach magnetically. Delivery was as promised. I am very pleased with these speakers. The only negative is that shortly after I made the purchase, I found offers on-line for $100 less per speaker than what I paid. These speakers are being offered at a discount because the manufacturer came out with a new model to replace it (ML 60XTi I believe).
