As the first journalist blogging about startups in Brazil at my own vehicle, for more than 5 years, I was afraid Kincaid's book would not be an interesting read for me, but I just devoured it because I identified a lot to the role he described himself at. But what matters is an entrepreneur's point of view, and Kincaid certainly does a great service to them: the book is full of fundamentals and insider tips, very realistic insights. I already started strongly recommending this book to entrepreneurs who seek my advice on their launching strategy.

As a former technology PR vet tis book is hilarious. While at times it reads as a former journalist's rant---its an entertaining read and offers some valuable tips which I wish I had heard before plunging head first in to the world of corporate communications.

Great book for Startups about PR

Nothing but the truth as I see it. The book is fun to read. I just bought this book and with 20% into this book and I can tell you, that Jason is spot on about PR firms. I have a hardware startup (IoT) that I've been working on for the past 18 months, spent a lot of time, money and effort on and now I'm at a point where I'm starting to realize those things that I didn't think about before. PR in particular, it was a black box for me 3 months ago. My 3 months of research have been compressed in Jason's first 20% of the book that I've read so far.
This is my favorite part so far that the author said: "The way I see it, this is all a big lottery, and press is a good way to get more tickets."
I'll keep reading and will update my review later!

Update 1:
Another great quote, that seems so obvious now: "if there's stuff in your background that can bolster your story, use it." - better understood in context though.

Update 2:
Wow, turns out (as expected) I knew nothing about what's on journos mind and how it all works. This is a whole science. You've got to read the book to get it.

Price of the book is a steal, if you consider how much it'd cost you to gain this knowledge.

Amazing. I'm an app developer and I was trying to learn PR from PR people's blogs. Most of their advice is exactly what Jason says reporters hate. He shares so much insight into how press thinks and acts.

The book itself is hilarious and incredibly easy to read. If you do anything that needs publicity – just buy it.
