So just to make a few things clear. If you want zero problems setting these up do this. Get exactly an 8 gb SD card. No more no less. Use win32 imager or PiBaker for Mac and download the Raspberry pi image from the rock miner website. Put the image on the sd card. Put the sd card in your Raspberry pi B. (NOT B+) Just get a B. I followed these steps and was up and running on 20 minutes. Right now at the current Difficulty rating. These are the best chips on the market because the wattage is so low.

Was easy to set up as I already had some of the smaller R-Boxes. Just plug it in, CGMiner saw it, and away it went. Using it on Eliegius, after more than 24 hours it is showing an average hashrate of just under 100GH/s being run at 290Mhz. Eliegius stats say that this rate will earn .0013xxx BTC/day. At the current value of Bitcoin, that's about .40-.45 USD/day at the current difficulty. Good miner to jump in with that has decent power for 65 bucks..

I bought this to get my feet wet in mining, and boy am I happy! I tried running some gpu miners but those get awful results especially on a per watt basis. And as compared to those usb sticks which are not much cheaper this is clearly the better option! At 1 watt (or less) per GH/s you just can't go wrong! And unless you want to spend thousands on blade servers this is the best you can do with todays technology! Brought in 106GH/s right off the bat!

You can also use this on BOINC (Bitcoin Utopia Project, see my setup guide here -> http://j.mp/ASIConBOINC) and you can contribute to server costs for certain projects or funding for the mars mission, projects change every 6 months or so. And it brings in a ridiculous 96 MILLION points per day if you choose to run only the long (20GH/s+) projects.

If you want to get into mining, and don't want to spend to much money, this is the way to go!

Also, they must have taken notice to the loud fan noise complaints because I can barely hear mine running when my ears are within feet of it. Basically every other fan surrounding it is louder and I use stealth and other low noise fans.

Love this miner, yes Bitcoin is definitely on the slide so don't go buying one of these if you think your going to get rich off Bitcoin. But for a simple hobbyist looking to get into a new complex hobby this is perfect.

PROs:

- quiet
- my average GH/s is 124 this has always performed greater than the advertised 100-110 GH/s
- doesn't take up much space
- doesn't use a lot of power, very efficient
- nobody beats their price for this GH/s rate

CONs:

- still does get a little hot when running 24/7/365
- limited connectivity options, other miners have super easy and great networking GUI interfaces that are easy for less tech savvy people.

Averages 119Gh/s right out of the box and went up to 128Gh/s after changing the clock frequency to 350Mhz.

I'm new to mining - it was fairly easy to setup after reading up on things. I bought an EVGA 500B PSU to power it, and then connected it to a Windows server using the directions on the RockMiner's website under their 'Guides' tab. I just plugged in the USB, ran zadig to fix my USB driver, then started up the RockMiner's special CGMiner app. After running for a day, it was averaging 119Gh/s with the default 320MHz frequency specified in the start.bat file that RockMiner provides.

You do not need to run RockMiner's special version of CGMiner. It appears they did this mostly to add the "rmu-auto" parameter for setting the clock frequency. You can grab the latest official CGMiner and use the recently added "rock-freq" parameter instead to get the same effect. I set it to 350 and now it's averaging 128Gh/s.

I see a lot of talk about noise. It's not super loud, but it is loud enough that I want it away from where I work. It's currently in my home office with a couple beefy 10-fan server boxes and it is by far the loudest thing in the room. I'll be moving it to the garage soon.

This is by far the fastest miner for its price. I ran this at 350 freq and it got me 138 GH/s (Which is 28 GH/s faster than described). It's kind of loud but it dosen't bother me much and looking at how fast it is, it's definitely worth it. This doesn't feel like 14 pounds but it may be 14 pounds. Using 110 watts isn't much too. Overall, this is the best miner for the money and you should get one now.

I have to agree with Matt H. The is a great miner and using a Raspberry Pi to control it is the only way to go. You have GUI network access to it and setting it up is very easy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ea6qrQUqvAc).

I gave the New R-Box 5 stars but if I could I'd give it 4.9 since its 2 fans are too loud for some locations, like anywhere close to me. For the price I'm not complaining and I may get a second one.

This is really a fantastic miner. I wouldn't consider anything else at this price point. I'm averaging 120 gigahashes on the stock clock speed to Slush's pool. There isn't another 100+ gigahash machine on the market that comes close to this price point. The fans are a bit noisy, but this doesn't bother me. At this price I will probably end up buying another one and running it alongside the one I have.
