It works. I mean what else can I say? It's a USB extension cable. It's not going to make you more attractive to the opposite sex (or same, if that's your thing...) It's not going to buy you a beer, put it's USB shielded arm around your shoulder and commiserate you for not being attractive. It won't drive you to the ball game to hang out with your friends to forget your worries. And it certainly won't bail you out of jail when you do something stupid like drink too much beer, scream at geese in the park and chase them into the water. I mean what kind of a friend is this USB cable anyway? I give it a place to stay, it uses my computer all the time, and I think it's eyeing my SCSI ports. And after I rescued it from the depths of a warehouse somewhere! I mean that's friendship for you isn't it? And I think it's eating all my popcorn too!

But yeah, it does what I need it to do. What else can I say?

Long but cuts power in half

It serves as a usb extension so helpful if you really need the length but I tested the power being delivered through the cable and it essentially cuts the power draw of my usb powered devices by half. Tried it with 3 different power sources on a few different devices with the same results. For example my phone was charging at 1.8A at 5.21V and after adding this cable it cut the power draw down to 1.0A at 4.67V. If all you really need is a plug extension then this will do the trick but just keep in mind you won’t be able to charge certain devices optimally. I haven’t tested transfer speeds but I can only imagine the results may mirror my findings.

Guess I got a bad one -- data transfer rate same as USB 2.0. Tested copying a 2 GB file, which took 11 secs direct to device with its (short) native USB 3.0 cable. Same test done with this cable between the PC and device -- about 50 secs! -- which is the same performance as the 10 ft USB 2.0 cable I was hoping to replace. In other words, it performs just like a USB 2.0 cable.

So many good reviews -- and I saw one review -- they did a data transfer test like me, got good results though (what up with that???????).

It's not worth the energy to return. Thoughts: Amazon should take their good name off this cable.

UPDATE: my bad. This cable is just fine. What I learned: 3 meters is pretty close to max length per USB 3.0 spec. So, without a repeater, you won't be able to use a cable of any significant length in conjunction with this extension cable. I initially tested with a native USB cable about 1 meter long -- and adding this 3 meter extension resulted in a total length of 4 meters -- too long for reliability in USB 3.0. So of course i experienced dropped signal, poor performance, and such.

Tip: if you're not using a repeater, only plug this cable into a cable that is a few inches long (a mini), or else you'll likely get faults.

Weird that USB 2.0 spec allowed for longer cables than USB 3.0 spec, but there it is.

With so many positive reviews, I am dissapointed mine dont work properly. I was really hoping I could extend my Logitech Web cam away from the computer and into another room...but I get no video using these extensions. The screen ends up black, no matter the arrangement or if only using one of the two. BUT other extensions i have bought work. These Amazon cables aren't dead; there is a connection to these. But without the video, for my purposes, these are useless.

But the fittings were not flush. Thinking my product was defective, I ordered a replacement, but the usb female end on the replacement product on this one was also not deep enough to fully plug in any male usb cord I own. See photo.
Don't know if this matters, but only time I have seen that ever re: usb devices.

Complete junk. Just buy the Sabrent one and you'll be better off.

Like another review mentioned, the connectors on this cable are complete garbage. Even the slightest bit of movement on either end—even due to thermal expansion from the heat of a thumb drive, or just a fan on in the room—is enough to cause your device to disconnect and reconnect constantly.

And it's not a power issue, as the thumb drives draw less than 1/30 of the rated 900mA power of a USB 3.0 port, at 28mA each, under load.

The cable part itself is high quality and the molded ends of the cable are nice, but the connectors make it essentially useless. Nothing I enjoy more than corrupted data transfers due to poor connector design on an extension cable.

Avoid this and just buy the brand name ones. I replaced with a Sabrent and it's perfect.

Usually Amazon Basics are pretty good, but sometimes they need a couple revisions to get them right. This definitely feels like version 1.0 and desperately needs a version 2.0, because this version is junk.

Prolunga presa per collegare il PC ad un HUB, in modo da poter organizzare meglio la disposizione di alcune periferiche (scanner e HD esterni).

Dato il mio tipo utilizzo, le caratteristiche più importati sono la velocità di trasferimento dei dati e il fatto che non ci siano errori di lettura / scrittura o comunicazione delle periferiche.

In merito alla velocità di trasferimento, dopo aver fatto dei test empirici di lettura e scrittura con una chiavetta e con un hard disk esterno, confermo che i valori sono gli stessi che collegare tali dispositivi direttamente al PC. In merito ad errori di comunicazione, finora non ho riscontrato errori di scannerizzazione o di operazioni di copia / incolla.

Pregevole che i metri di lunghezza dichiarati siano utilizzabili per intero, in quanto da questa lunghezza sono esclusi i connettori, che si estendono per ulteriori 3,5cm ciascuno. Se come nel mio caso, il cavo viene fatto passare in apposite canaline per nasconderlo alla vista, è giusto anche conoscere lo spessore, che si attesta a 2,4 mm.

This is a sturdy, well-made cable and is much thicker than I was expecting. Data transfer is fine, as is normal charging.

Ive tried this for raspberry pi 3b+ power using a 2.5a power supply and it works fine.

Do note that, due to the length and subsequent voltage drop, this won't allow fast charging on Samsung phones with the standard charger.

I'm more than happy with this for my purposes

Bon câble de rallonge, mauvais câble de transfert

Pour étoffer un peu mon titre, j'ai testé ce câble de 3m acheté à l'origine pour me permettre de brancher mon clavier bien plus loin de mon PC (et ça fonctionne niquel, réponse des touches, RGB etc, rien à redire). Mais j'ai tenu à le tester avec une clé USB Corsair Voyager USB 3 que je traine depuis longtemps et qui fonctionne super bien (250moS/W 360moS/R). Et bien.... Alors que la clé est directement reconnue une fois branchée à cette rallonge, les taux de transferts chute de manière catastrophique. J'ai même cru que mon logiciel de test avait planté, j'étais tombé à 2moS/R - 13moS/R... Une catastrophe. Alors j'ai tenté un test "en réel" en déplaçant dessus un film de 6,87 Go, résultat il faut environ 8 minutes avec la rallonge là où il ne faut qu'une poignée de secondes sans.

En bref, c'est une bonne rallonge de périphérique, mais un mauvais câble de transfert de données.

Je lui met donc 3 étoiles :
+1 Solidité du câble (il parait de bonne facture)
+1 Prix Amazon
+1 Efficace comme une rallonge périphérique à moindre coût
-1 Débit de transfert catastrophique
-1 Cable "USB 3" pas plus performant que le modèle "USB 2"
