I really like this product, however I had a really bad problem with the shipment, because at least 3 quarters of them were severly damaged and exploded.
This is a real review. I am not affiliated with PepsiCo, nor am I affiliated with the competition. However, this does not seem to be the case with the 3,000+ others who have "reviewed" this product with 1 star. This goes out to tarka, Lori, m, Cecilia, Jack, Lawrence, M Harvey, TexasFrank, Happy Customer, N Potts, and all the other cloned/hacked reviews that happened on November 19th. Sound fishy to you? Yeah, the reviews are bogus.
I have actually purchased this product a few times, and I'm about to add another case to my cart after writing this. I'll also mention (like everyone does on their first review) that I've never reviewed a product on Amazon, but I felt compelled to do so now. Now that the cliche is in the past, on to my review.
I love the taste of Pepsi. When the Throwbacks came out, it was all I'd buy. I'm glad they added them to their permanent line as an option of real sugar instead of HFCS. I know sugar isn't good for you either, but it's slightly less terrible. Plus, the taste is actually better than the 90s HFCS edition that has become "regular." I don't like to ingest a lot of sugar, so I don't drink many of them, but when I do...they're great! I also buy stevia sweetened sodas from other companies that sound like the word itself. You really gotta want em. I have grown to like some of the flavors, but not the soda ones.
Enter Pepsi True. I know it still has sugar, but a quick calculation shows that it has roughly 2/3 the sugar of regular Pepsi. They removed 33% of sugar, and added stevia. I think it's a step in the right direction as it tastes like a halfway point between the pure stevia drinks and a Pepsi with sugar. The flavor has grown on me and I find myself drinking less of the regular ones in response to these. Now the Real Sugar Pepsis are a special special treat. These little Pepsi Trues with less sugar and no toxic artificial sweeteners have that refreshing Pepsi taste, but with a little bit of that stevia aftertaste. If you can get over that or if you use stevia regularly, you'll love em!
I do not know the current situation regarding rain forest preservation and do not want to support it's destruction. I hope that if PepsiCo is using non-sustainable practices that can and must be avoided, they will pursue better methods. I will also say this to all the 1-star reviewing randomly generated users out there: I admire the awareness and attempt at cleaner living and responsibility on this planet. I don't, however, entertain envy...especially from suspected competition. To those who, like me, are giving a fair and honest review of this product regardless of rating: You would be surprised by the small handful of faces who oversee all of these companies and where their pockets are connected.
What I do know is that this product that is being reviewed does not contain any palm oil of any kind from any source. I am giving a fair review for a product that I will continue to buy and I will do my marching in the appropriate venues. I hope amazon can do some investigation into the thousands of word-for-word, cloned reviews against this product in order to give it's members and shoppers a fair reflection of the actual product in question.

I decided to try these out more for the size than anything extra special about the formula. I do not drink diet sodas, as I am allergic to aspartame, and sucralose seems to give me a headache as well. That leaves the very few sweetened with stevia, and this is NOT one of those.
This simply uses sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup for the main sweetener. As far as taste, I don't taste a lot of difference, except that this one is a little bland and less carbonated for some reason. Perhaps our package got beat up too much on the trip. Probably a total of 10 cans out of the 24 cans had dents or smooshed edges on them. One could not be opened at all by hand. The edges were the worst, but some of the ones in the middle were also a little mashed, which surprised me. It wasn't worth tryig to return it, so we kept it.
There are a couple pros though - first off, aesthetically, I like the can color! Ha! Yes, I like the shiny green can. I like shiny things. I also like caffeine, but once the evening wears down, I often don't want to drink a full can. This is where this product shines. They are just the right size for a late evening Pepsi without having the rest of the can sit and go flat overnight. (I've poured out more than my share of the blue cans the next morning.)
I wish they were more carbonated, and they need to perhaps put them in sixpack rings AND the case to keep them from slamming around so much. But, they have a place in the Pepsi world. Would I buy them again? Undecided at this point.
So I just received my PEPSI TRUE --- and put freezer to get icy cold.....and to same I am disappointed is not enough......something wrong with this stuff --- other than the flavor - PEPSI COULD PUT SOME COLA IN IT - for you know what I remember my first COKE in the 1930 time frame and we were allowed one a week - and then PEPSI CAME OUT AND JOAN CRAWFORD AND MY SISTER RODE WITH THEM ON THE USS AMERICA FROM THE UK....she made Pepsi so they said in a move -- however -- NO WAY THESE PEOPLE WOULD ENDORSE THIS PRODUCT...
I am to say the least disappointed -- NO COLA HERE - WHY NOT PUT SOME COLA IN IT AS IT WAS ONCE --- I love the regular Diet Pepsi as they get closer to the real thing but this is important
WMHEN I OPENED THIS CAN TO POUR IN MY GLASS -- I THOUGHT WHERE IS THE COLA --- IT WAS ALL FOAM -- and that is a sign of OLD AGE -- I checked bottom of can for expiration date - NONE ---- THIS LITTLE GREEN CAN IS NOT APPEALING EITHER -- RED WHITE AND BLUE DOES NOT GO WITH GREEN -- TRUE BLUE IT DESERED A BLUE COLOR -- but again ALL FOAM --- the foam raced to the top --- and then sunk down to 7 oz or whatever --- enought to say this\
YOU DRINK ONE -- IT IS NOT LIKE 'THE REAL THING' you do NOT WANT ANOTHER CAN......period ---- there is no COKE LIKE THE OLD COKE OR OLD PEPSI COKE --- like Wendy's when they got old Dave over the barrel for his secret ingredient they then - his competitors label him with selling poison - the secret was TALLOW TO SEASON THE MEAT WHILE McDonalds poured on the slop --- so the question was WHERE'S THE BEEF -- the biggest cover up since Garden of Eden.
I am gong back to my DIET PEPSI -- which is close to THE REAL THING --- but this is not worthy to carry the pepsi name in particular since it has 69 calories which comes up foam ---- the guy who put this on the market should be deep sixed with the product --- for I paid big bucks for this by today's standards -- THEY DUMPED THIS STUFF ON THE MARKET KNOWING IT WAS -- well -- put it this way -- IT IS NOT ADICTIVE -- AND NOW I FEEL BETTER --- SORRY - I HAVE TO BE HONEST HERE, I WAS THAT DISAPPOINTED ---- I will drink this whatever it is BUT ONLY WHEN OUT OF MY DIET PEPSI --- but right now I do not think I ever want a Pepsi again. I REST MY CASE --- Connie TRUE BUE
