I read all the online reviews and was set on the SVS powered subwoofer. I went into my local Magnolia store (inside some of the Best Buys), and was totally underwhelmed with the SVS products. Then they sold me on the Definitive Technology Supercube 4000 (they only had the 2000 which sounded good, but I wanted more power). I used the Supercube for about a week, but noticed, as I had read in some reviews, that the sub would crackle under high stress. For $799 plus tax, I said it is not the right sub. I had skipped Klipsch because I could not find a retailer - and some retailers poo - poo'ed the sub. I have an entire Klipsch system (Chorus II's), and thought, I am happy with Klipsch, why don't I give it a try. I found an open box R-112SW along with a used wireless connector off of Ebay. The result: Deep tight bass. The Wireless Unit works perfect. The sub turns on with the amp via wireless. No bottoming out of the woofer. Plenty of room filling bass. Now if you are like me, you have read a million reviews - you should go listen to the subwoofers you are considering like I did. SVS is entirely overrated. Better yet, take a chance on this sub - Amazon's return policy is phenomenal - you have nothing to lose, and bass to gain.

Can't say much more about this other than I hope you have understanding neighbors. I thought the 10" one I had rocked the room, this one shakes the house. Even at 20-40% of it's power and level, it's going to rumble the place. But it's not a "cheap" or "lifeless" type rumble. It's a hard hitting, hit you in your core type of sound that has to be heard to be understood. I keep mine at about 80hz low pass and on notch 4 with the gain. So that's about 20-30% of it's power and I couldn't really imagine needing much more. But I also don't have an extremely large room, so I'm sure if you have a large room, you'd need it up around 80% to produce the same sound and feeling that I'm getting with it at lower levels. But bottom line, this will add SO much incredible life to your music and movies. It's astonishing to be honest. I really don't think, unless you have a VERY large room, that you'd nee to move up to the R-115SW 15" one. I had the R-110SW originally and it packed a punch. But I ended up putting it in the back of the room and ordering this 12" one for the front. So now I have powerful bass coming from both directions making it a powerhouse effect. Klipsch "optional" setup has the two floor standing towers in front, two rear surrounds in the back, the center speaker in the front center and then 4 subs in each corner of the room. Now that's definitely OPTIONAL and it seems to me to be a bit of overkill. But if you have the money and your house is about 100 miles away from everything else so you could actually use a system that has that much insane bass, that could be an option you take. But for me, with small to medium sized room, the 12" and 10" subs with the setup I mentioned above is more power and bass than I could ever possibly use.

Built our house 10 years ago with Klipsch speakers in the ceiling throughout. Put in a passive Sub-Woofer because the only in wall powered one I could find was over $1000. It just didn't cut it. When my 20yr old HK 3700 blew out I picked up an Outlaw Retro and improved the system markedly. Now with wireless Subs available I dipped in and this is a great one. I figured it would go well with my ceiling Klipschs (it does) and the dedicated sub out on the Outlaw means I can Listen to Music once again.
Occasionally there is a slight rumble when the music goes silent, not sure if it's the wireless connection or what, but I'll move the speaker around and see if the waves are being interfered with that causes it (the receiver is in a cabinet in another, open, room about 25 feet away). Small issue when the results are so good

After going through several 8", 10" and 12" subs in the last year, desperate to find subs that can go low enough, hit hard enough, AND not get distorted or boomy, I finally found heaven in the perfect combination of two subwoofers: This Klipsch R-112SW and the SVS-SB2000 (to bring music to life, but that's another review on another day).
This R-112 is a serious subwoofer. Seriously! Gets down and dirty in to the lows only - usually - reserved for the $1000+ subs. Clean and clear! Granted that sounds a little oxymoron-ish, but if you're wanting that thumping, chest-moving bass and sub bass (for the price) this is the sub.
In case you're wondering, I'm running a Denon AVR-X4200 and I'm in a very acoustically poor 28' x 19' room.
Of course you then add the beauty of Amazon. It just makes buying so easy; a simple click or two and it can go back if you're not happy.
I - truly - don't know how Klipsch can put this sub out at the price they do; then throw in the wireless kit too.
If you are looking for a sub in this price range, you won't be disappointed.

This is an awesome sub for the living room. It works great on both ends of the bass spectrum. With it properly adjusted, voices come through much more life like. If you're into music with heavy bass lines, it is awesome. Light fixtures through the house rattle and you can hear the bass from about 50ft away from the house without any open doors or windows. This is at a level that isn't unpleasant within the house. The power, range and clarity of this sub covers all listening styles. It's the pride and joy of our stereo system.
