Just recently, I was looking to upgrade my Kitchenaid Artisan stand mixer to another Kitchenaid with a stronger motor. This model caught my eye and with a 1 hp DC motor at this price point, I was elated. All of Kitchenaid's better models including their commercial mixers utilize the more powerful DC motor. Then I started reading the product review comments. The fact that this model was created specifically to sell through Costco and QVC was of no concern but the allegation that Kitchenaid does not support this product adequately was a potential deal breaker for me so I utilized the chat feature on the Kitchenaid.com website and confirmed the following:
*Although the model does not appear on Kitchenaid's website, a replacement bowl in the design series tulip shape (model #W10177650G), as well as, the wire whisk (model #KN256WW), flat beater (model #KN256CBT), and dough hook (model #KNS256CDH) are available through Kitchenaid's Customer Service number at 800-541-6390. As of 12/29/2015 (the date of contact), the replacement bowl was available for $59.99. I did not obtain a price on the whisk, flat beater or dough hook.
* There is also a 5-quart bowl available that fits this mixer (model #KN25PBH) at a cost of $59.99 and a pouring shield (model #KN1PS), specific to the 5-quart bowl) available at a cost of $24.99.
After researching, I felt confident in purchasing this model and am very satisfied with the quality of workmanship and performance. The fact that there is not a knob on the lift lever does not add or take away from the functionality so for me is a moot point. The machine is noticeably more quiet than my Artisan and with the added heft of the DC motor, I look forward to many years of use.

Awesome as expected
I've owned a KitchenAid mixer for years and years and decided it was time to upgrade to this one. The one I had was the best at the time but this makes the other one seem like child's play. The old one still works and I have passed it down to a person who doesn't own a KitchenAid.
