BROKEN OUT OF THE BOX.

BROKEN OUT OF THE BOX.
Purchased this laptop and it was defective right out of the box. I've attached pictures of the two messages I get when attempting to power up the computer. I have sent three messages to the seller and have gotten no response. Complete scam.

I am very impressed with this computer. I use to have an Apple Macbook, which I thoroughly enjoyed while it lasted, but this computer---for the price---which is about $700 cheaper, gets the job done. I am very satisfied with this HP product. While it's a little bigger than I am use to (my Macbook was about 13"), it's fast and has a ton of storage. I was looking for a relatively cheap laptop for grad school that would allow me to (simultaneously) surf the internet, type on Word, create on PowerPoint, AND listen to iTunes. While it's not a gaming machine, I can play certain (older) FPS games---such as the original Far Cry---without any problems. But I did not buy this computer anticipating to play BF4 or Crysis 3, I bought it to browse the internet efficiently and utilize Microsoft Office. Netflix and HBO GO work flawlessly and the 1366 x 768 display/resolution is crisp. There are ample (3) USB ports, an HDMI port, AUX, and an optical disk drive. While it doesn't come equipped with Bluetooth, again, there are *3* USB ports to connect a Bluetooth module to.

I have had this computer for about 6 months now and I have yet to experience any problems. My girlfriend recently ordered a $500+ HP laptop and she is constantly asking to borrow my g020dx (for a variety of reasons). In retrospect---having used my girlfriend's 13" HP---15" does seem a bit cumbersome, but the numpad (which hers doesn't have) has proven to be very helpful when using Excel, and the 1 TB storage is just fantastic.

Overall, I am VERY happy with my purchase.

My mother initially ordered a new Dell, but after experiencing many problems we returned the laptop. I went online to find her something and found this and saw it was an even better deal with better specs and higher reviews/ratings. Ordered it. Got it two days later and my mom couldn't be more happy. I like it as well because it's fast, functional and great for doing all the essentials on a laptop..

Easy to use. Quite a bit of storage. Decent graphics. Speaker isn't that great, but I didn't buy it expecting a Bose speaker system. The trackpad is probably the worst thing. I had to mess around with the settings to finally get it to work for me (turn Cortana off and use only the touch, button, and 2 finger scroll to prevent the Windows Search from coming up every 2 seconds when you scroll). Battery life is as advertised. Processor works pretty well. Quick boot up and restarts. For under $400, you're getting a pretty nice computer. Just realize that it's not your high end, super fast, great display computer which it shouldn't be labeled as anyways. Its the computer for the middle schooler, high schooler, college student, or any beginner laptop. For all the people giving negative reviews, it's because they expected to get something as good as a Macbook Pro or Dell XPS. This isn't supposed to be a that kind of computer. It's for the cost conscience people who also like something that works very well.

I'll admit my biases, I like Apple and not Windows, so the computer has a strike against it already. I had to buy it to run a few programs that I can't get to run on my 'Windows inside a Mac' program.

That said, the keyboard is too far forward for my taste. The keys have a cheap, hollow plastic feel to them. The 'start' screen is too confusing, too busy, too cluttered up with advertising and other junk I have no interest in. The on/off key doesn't give a clear sense of when it's actually been activated, such as thru a beep, and I can't tell if the machine is starting up or not.

I've tried to add a printer for about a week now, and can't get it to do so. It won't auto-detect, even though it's plugged in. The printer company doesn't include a CD any longer, and downloading the driver program and trying to install it manually also doesn't work. It gives little beep noises over my unsuccessful driver installation efforts, but I have no idea what they mean. If there's a 'help' file somewhere in this system to figure out what's going on I can't find it.

HP support is VERY underwhelming. The computer came with no DVD as to its programs. Maybe it's not supposed to have one, I don't know, I haven't bought a computer for a few years and maybe companies like HP are too chintzy now to include a 10 cent DVD automatically. Amazon couldn't tell me if one was due or not. Amazon said to call HP's 800 number, and in doing that all I got was voice mail hell, and was being told to go on-line to their Help website. Going online just yielded more frustration, as to filling out a form but having no apparent way to send it.

The computer itself, it works. It has a hard drive, it has memory, it has a screen, it's faster than my several year old machine, whoopity doo.

Bottom line: I bought this mainly because a consumer magazine said that it was better than the competition, and my growing dissatisfaction with Dell which I had owned for many years. But if there was a zero star rating I'd give it to HP for making this model. A total piece of junk.

I bought this computer thinking I didn't need anything fancy. I don't watch videos, I don't play games, etc. I just need to surf web, listen to music, send emails, etc. This computer does good playing music from pandora or amazon music stations. Other than that it is terrible! My main issue is that most of the time it will not type reliably for me. For about every 10 letters I type, I have 1 letter that does not show up. This means I have to type slowly so I can stop and hit a key twice if I need to. Not good! I even went to HP online help. They tried to reprogram it for me, but to no avail.
