If you buy this clamp, you HAVE to add this part...
Over all, I have found this adjustable clamp to be fantastic. It's versatile for small board work with the teeth having multiple recesses to allow for different clamping configurations. While using this, I noticed that if I turned the board in a specific direction, it seemed to resist turning and when it did turn I heard a scratching sound along with a "pop". After a bit, I further noticed little plastic bits appearing on the lower beam which lead me to believe that the poping sound was the spring tearing out plastic from the frame. (which was confirmed when I disassembled the frame and investigated). The fix: a #10 washer. Unfortunately, the #10 washer doesn't quite fit over the shaft, so one may have to drill it out a bit (I used a 7/16" drill bet and it's perfect). I've included pics for those that are interested.

I like this PCB holder a lot just not as much as my Panavise simple due to the fact how it holds the PCB. The little holder have indents in them to ensure the PCB is located and securely held with a simple spring tension, yet the indents are a little to deep for some of my small PCB that have components near the edge.

The ease of use on this little thing is amazing, and the price is right! Although i am curious about the design on why the retention screws for both PCB clamps and base sliding units are opposite of each other and not on the same side. This makes it a little awkward to have to reach around the unit to secure both sides in to help ensure there is very little lateral when soldering SMD components. Although, one could argue that one side should be set and the other side does the moving. But all in all a simple enough design and robust enough to be stable and secure.

I'd recommend this to anyone working on PCBs either through hole or surface mount but cation the depth of the holders if components are very close to the edge of the board.

Very sturdy but a little cumbersome if you have a limited amount of work area. It has a fairly large or bulky footprint for small projects. I do like how much flexibility you have with this and it really does "lock down" the part when necessary and holds well. I painted a little rubber cement into the board clamp grooves and let it dry before mounting a circuit board in the clamp. This gives the clamp surface a much better non-slip grip than the hard plastic to circuit board slippy grip like it comes. This pretty much solves the slippage or sliding circuit board issue I had.
A dab of liquid rubber in the groves would probably work better and last longer but we work with what we have... This item is weighted well with a low center of gravity and is very sturdy when tightened down all the way. The cross members are all metal with sturdy rubber insulated feet but the two uprights and the clamps or holders are made with hard plastic which let the board slide around to easily (this is where I added the rubber cement dabs). A good buy for the money and very sturdy except possibly the plastic board clamps. .

I bought it after reading a number of online reviews of this (and many copies/knockoffs) device. All I can really say is IT LIVES UP TO THE "HYPE"!

It's easy to put together (it comes packaged in a disassembled "state") and, once assembled, is a VERY STABLE "platform" for working on circuit boards (it's main "forte") and other "things" that spring jaws can "capture" and hold. The ability to vertically ROTATE the "specimen" a full 360 degrees (depending on the "specimen's" size and how it's mounted) gives this holder an edge on many other "similar" tools.

Finally, the holder can be stored on a nearby shelf or a regular desk drawer when not in use as its "footprint" is roughly 5" x 12" x 4" (W, L, H).

The only real "nit": depending on the "weight distribution" of the "specimen", you may need to BRACE the front and rear edges to prevent unwanted "rotation" if you apply any "pressure" to the surface facing you (i.e., probing with meter leads, solder work ). Otherwise tightening the clamp knobs will usually provide the necessary "anti-rotation" pressure, particularly on "smallish" and "lightweight" specimens.

Otherwise, I DO recommend this tool for any Electronic Hobbyist. :)

Handy. Just got it and look forward to using it. On small boards the spring tension is more than enough to keep the board stable, and not allow it to rotate. There are screws to tighten up the ends and lock parts in place.

I noticed a number of comments about how this can only hold up to 7 1/2 inch parts, maybe 8 1/2 inches if you push the brackets out so they are not fully on the cross bar. Since the construction is very simple, replace the cross bar with a piece of good wood and hold larger boards if needed. However the light nature of the holder means that a large and heavy board will not be held very well.

Since the dimensions appear metric, 30mm x 15mm, finding an off-the-shelf longer bar might not be easy. Finding a friend who has some wood working tools, or visiting a lumber yard that is willing to cut to dimension will be considerably easier. However the lightweight nature of this tool means that going much bigger might mean that it no longer will hold securely.

This is an cxcellent and inexpensive tool to hold a printed circuit board to work on. The spring loaded ends will secure your board and allow it to be turned on various angles as you work on it. The tool has a sturdy metal stand with rubber feet that holds it securely in place and the basic design is sound. Unlike other clamp-type devices that position the board high-up which is prone to tilting over, this stand has a low center-of-gravity and stays where you put it. The board size can be rather small or large because the supports can expand to accommodate your board. This tool will of course work with any board using either standard wire-through-hole devices or surface-mount devices. Overall, it does a great job of freeing your hands while holding the board in place. I highly recommended if you do any repair of PC boards or for adding inserting components to PC boards - this is a must-have tool you will not want to be without.

This vise is very basic, but I find it works great for repairing the circuit boards of digital multimeters. It's very easy to use and holds the boards securely in the jaws. One jaw is mounted on a spring that in theory will help prevent putting to much pressure on the PCB. There are thumbscrews threaded into the posts of the jaws that allow the PCB to be set and locked at an angle, but if the spring is compressed the screw will also lock it in the compressed position. I normally only lock the side opposite the spring to avoid this.

All in all this vise is great for the money, my only complaint might be that it could be a little shorter to keep the board close to the surface of the bench. Build quality seems fairly good, with rubber feet to prevent it slipping around and it's large enough to hold any board I work on.

Product arrived earlier than expected in perfect condition. It was a breeze to assemble and a joy to use. I had a similar type of soldering aid years ago but it broke after many years of use. This design is well thought out and is indispensable when working with both sides of the circuit board at same time. Simply rotating the board to the other side sure beats having to do it manually, allowing for virtually hands-free operation, and holding it steady to work on. Impressed with the prompt delivery and quality of the product. Would not hesitate to order with this vendor again!
