About the authors

The last of four children of the seventies, Steve was born in London and has never been too far from a shooting, bombing or riot. He's now grateful to live in a small town in East Yorkshire in the north east of England.
He's worked in the IT industry for over 25 years in a variety of roles, predominantly in data centre environments. More recently he's widened his skill set to embrace DevOps, Linux, containers, automation, orchestration, cloud and more. He's been awarded F5 Networks DevCentral MVP status seven times, in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. Details of his F5 related books can be found at https://www.f5books.eu and you can find him on Twitter: @sjiveson.

Philip Jönsson was born in Malmö City, Sweden 1988 where he still lives with his wife. He gained interest in technology at an early age.
Since Philip had a big interest in technology, choosing an education was easy. His IT-studies started at NTI (The Nordic Technical Institute) where he studied the basics of computer technology and eventually focused on network technology. Later on he studied IT-security at Academedia Masters.
Philip’s first job in the IT business was at a home electronics company in Sweden. He worked at the IT-department and was responsible for managing and troubleshooting the sales equipment in the different stores and managing the IT-infrastructure within the organization. This is where Philip first encountered a BIG-IP controller.
Now Philip works in a TAC (Technical Assistance Center) department at one of the largest IT security company in Sweden and handles major incidents and problems for Sweden's most well-known companies.

Note: This is not a comprehensive introduction to F5 Big-IP! It covers some basics, and high level concepts and module overviews, but not at much length. It's not intended to, as this book is for preparation for the F5 101 Certification Exam.
I did go in with one year of direct network support knowledge, other than that my IT experience has been primarily in systems administration. I feel without any prior experience, that this book would have been sufficient to pass the exam.
The graphical representations provided of some of the concepts are elementary and look as if they were produced in Visio. The book is riddled with spelling and grammatical errors.
All in all it feels that someone felt they could write a similar book to that of which F5 University already provides and attempt to gain financially.
