Can be used for all DVI connections

This adapter works perfectly for HDMI to DVI-I Dual Link connections. The best part is that you can actually use this for any DVI connection as long as you have the ability to remove the pins you don't need. I haven't tried this for every type of DVI connection, but it worked with a DVI-D connection just fine. I used a razor blade and a tiny flat head screwdriver to remove/push down the uneeded pins.

I would recommend just getting the adapter you specifically need, but in a pinch removing the pins is extremely helpful and makes this a versatile adapter.

I've been using a DVI-D dual-link cable between my PC and my monitor for a couple years. Recently, I needed to use the monitor with a laptop. I got a DP++ -> HDMI cable and used it with a HD TV for a while, then bought this to connect the laptop to my Dell 2560x1600 display. The PC had no trouble feeding that resolution, at 60 Hz, through the aforementioned connection.

Single-link has enough bandwidth for 1080P but you need the dual-link to drive this monitor. A 1080P display has about 2.1 megapixels while this one is more than 4 megapixels.

The drivers on my Windows 10 laptop, after connecting to this monitor, don't want to give me anything more than 1920x1080. It will upscale that but ... not very clean.

It says it will do dual-link but my drivers are not seeing it. It's possible the choke point is the DP++ -> HDMI cable. I have no good way of checking, at the moment.

Supposedly, I can tell my drivers to 2560x1600@30 Hz instead of 60 Hz but ... I can't seem to do that. It's a company-provided laptop and I need Administrator rights to do that. I don't have such rights so ... I'm stuck with 1920x1080, upscaled.

I guess you would need to ensure that your HDMI connectivity has enough bandwidth. HDMI 1.3 should have enough bandwidth to drive this monitor but there's no way to tell, from looking at the connector, which version of HDMI you're dealing with.

I have an old MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. The DVI-I converted video signal via the HDMI worked flawlessly. No audio was present through the HDMI and the choice did not show up in sound preferences. This is a problem with the computer/video card I'm sure and not the adapter, so this is not a complaint but just information.

This adapter is well made and will do the job to covert HDMI to dvi. Price is right too.

However this will not work for a higher resolution dvi dual display monitor. I purchased this to use in an xstar 2560x1440 monitor that only has dual dvi input. This adapter does not work as the HDMI can not supply the proper signal. Calling this a dual dvi adapter is not a lie as it has all the proper connections but it will not work because HDMI failing. You will need a powered dual dvi display adapter to make this work for this purpose.
