Add up to 4 devices quickly and easily with the Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub. The thin, lightweight design makes this hub a great travel companion to expand one USB 3.0 port into four. Especially great for notebooks which come with only a few ports in an era when you need to attach many USB devices at once, such as a printer, card reader, cell phone, iPod, thumb drive, mouse, keyboard, or an external hard drive. Fully backwards compatible with the USB 2.0/1.1 products. Plus, each port has its own separate power switch so you can control each port independently.

Expand your high speed USB 3.0 ports

Technology seems to advance at ever increasing speeds. With the recent release of Super-Speed USB 3.0, you can now transfer data at up to 10 times the speeds of the older USB 2.0 standards! Speeds of 5Gbps are a vast improvement over USB 2.0 that only supports up to 480Mbps. The Sabrent USB 3.0 Hub is a great tool to expand a single USB 3.0 port into 4 ports, so now you can connect all of your USB devices at one time. Plus, its small and elegant design has been configured to be as thin as possible so as to not take up precious space as you travel. Yet, it is still backward compatible with your older devices, so you can still use it in conjunction with USB 2.0 devices.

System Requirements:

  • Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10
  • Mac OS X

Please Note:

2.4Ghz wireless devices, such as wireless keyboard and mouse adapters, may not work in close proximity to USB 3.0 devices or hubs. Connecting to a USB 2.0 port is recommended.

For a stable connection, the devices connected to the 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub must not exceed a combined current of 5 volts 900 mAh. This 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub will not charge an iPad (it will only sync).

  • Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0

Why its a keeper
5 out of 5 stars
Why its a keeper
I literally have a drawer full of USB hubs, it’s not that I collect them, it’s just that almost none of them fit the way I like to do things. Then I found this one. It’s one of the rare ones these days that doesn’t look like a pack of chewing gum with an attached five in cable. They’re all aiming to fill the void that Mac left by not including enough ports on their recent generation of laptops. This one is interesting, it looks like a very tiny replica of a tower computer. It comes with a plastic base than can be attached to a desk or shelf, either on top of it or under it. They also say it can be used horizontally, I guess anything can, but I was expecting that the desk mount could be used that way but no it can’t. That’s okay, I wanted to use it upright anyway. The mount has tracks so the hub can be slid into it and it has a slight detent to keep it in place. It also comes with the obligatory AC adapter which in this case is literally as large as the hub itself. Does it have to be, I doubt it, other hubs use adapters that are much smaller. But maybe that’s why they didn’t work out so well for me.You can read about the number and type of ports above in the manufacturer’s specs and I suggest you do that, sometimes user experiences aren’t as accurate as they should be.My use for it is to use the rear ports for things that I plug in and remove occasionally but I don’t want to crawl around under my desk to do so. The front ports are for things like flash drives and camera storage card adapters. And the power ports are handy for my phone or table while I’m working in my home studio. I like that those ports are upside down so as not to accidentally plug the wrong thing in there.Other than the power supply being a bit large my only not so great experience is that the enclosed interconnect cable is really heavy duty, so much so that it tends to pull the hub off the desk. Here’s a hint how to prevent that – I use those 3M adhesive strips that come with picture hangers. They are very strong yet easy to remove without damaging the desk surface.Of the many hubs I’ve tried, this one is a keeper.

This 4 port USB 3 powered hub works great for all USB devices such as USB drive, keyboard , mouse, audio interface, drawing tablets, MIDI devices, USB ethernet adapter, etc.

So far all devices get detected immediately. I had issues with other cheaper USB hubs (such as NAIO-CHAO with on/off switches) with detection of some devices (audio interface in my case) needing reconnect or switching USB port off/on every time computer started and even with that drawing tablet kept getting unrecognized USB device error. So there seems to be differences in USB hubs on what is used inside as some unknown brands don't perform consistently and can have compatibility issues.

Comparatively this is not less expensive device but works flawlessly and highly recommend as a great choice for needing 4 ports with on/off switches. I had similar good result with other USB hubs (without on/off switches) from brands, tp-link and BYEASY.

Even though this hub works without power adapter as well for all my devices so far, connecting included power adapter is a good choice to cover all power drawing scenarios and help laptop battery charge last longer.

I haven't done speed testing but practically seems no different than other USB 3 hubs.

This being 4 port USB hub for portability, USB cable length is fine for most use like next to laptop or wish to be longer in other use. Detachable cable may be helpful in that case. Or use additional extension cable.

I've purchased two of these USB hubs over the course of the past 6 months or so, and so far they work really well. I like the fact that you can turn on and off the different USB ports on the device to easily turn on and off devices. I use it to connect up with a joystick and throttle so that I can turn them off when I'm not using them to avoid controller interference in other games that I don't want to use them with. It's much easier and less stressful on the plugs than having to unplug and replug them every time I'd like to use them.

When the ports are turned on, they have a faint blue glow from the LEDs underneath so you can easily tell if the port is on or off. They don't seem to be super bright like other items I've used in the past which is a plus.

I have not tested throughput or connection speeds through this device, however using a joystick and throttle through the device I have not noticed any input latency, everything registers immediately.

One downside to this device for my personal use was the (very) short USB cable, but I could see this hub being used with a more portable device such as a laptop where extra cable would get in the way. I picked up a USB 3.0 extension cable to hook this to my desktop machine so that I could put it on my desk for easy reach. The buttons wouldn't be very accessible on a desktop machine in most situations without one. I won't knock a star for it though, as this is likely due to the way I personally wanted it to be setup.

Overall the device seems solid, and I use the on/off buttons on an almost daily basis and they have not failed yet in 6 months, which was one of the worries I originally had when purchasing.

This product works great. Like another reviewer mentioned, there are times where coming out of sleep and it is powered, it requires unplugging and plugging back in for the system to detect it. Normally it would be a negative but it happens. Formerly in IT responsible for approving products, there is no perfect product because of the huge amount of possible combinations out there and it shows in product reviews of the product because you will hear of the one combination that did not work. The hub has no problems with 2 other DELLs, 1 HP Envy, or a Lenovo laptop and a dozen desktops just this oddball Spectre.

    Back to the review:
This product works well and the individual buttons are quite helpful. For those really picky about build quality, the blue LED light is only bright on the side facing the ports but the clear ring circles the buttons. The buttons have a little more play than buttons on a PS4/xbox controller. We have 2.5 of these (more later) and the male and female plugs are snug and solid feeling. They all come with unique serial numbers and has a decent build feel to it. The use of the buttons helps wear and tear on cords and plugs since I don't have to pull out USB units I am not using. Since I travel and this laptop, keyboard, mouse, fan, etc. is my primary computer, this inexpensive feature saves wear and tear on $1000+ of equipment. My personal experience is that keeping things on when you don't need them puts more wear and tear on the device and the laptop's circuitry. Another nice feature is that the hub works with or without the power plug. If you just need usb power for your fans without hooking it to a computer, you can use it unplugged. If there is enough power for the ports, there is no voltage/amp difference on which port you plug it into which is a problem on cheaper hubs. (Tested with multimeter)

About the 2.5 units, the first one I received threw error messages on my HP Spectre, At that time, I got an email for a review from Sabrent and although I wasn't sure about cause of the problem, they quickly sent me a replacement. The problem was the power brick but I got the replacement with almost no downtime.

    Pro:
Individual buttons helps fine tune power use
Can be used as passive power or with optional AC power for devices needing more power
Light on active port(s) right on button so you know at a glance versus others on the side or just one light overall
    Great customer service (May 2017)

    Con:
For the HP Spectre, waking up from sleep sometimes requires reseating plug, not a problem if powering off
Lights around button could be more uniform but I'd rather have something than nothing

5.0 out of 5 stars Running four USB drives on this!
Reviewed in Canada on January 6, 2025
    Size: 4-portVerified Purchase
I couldn't find any reviews that were doing exactly what I'm trying to do: run four high speed USB drives off this device. IT WORKS GREAT! The drives are going as fast as physically possible simultaneously, whether they are connected to each other on the hub or transferring data to/from USB drives connected to other ports off the hub. I was worried that it wouldn't handle all four ports going full out all the time, but it's working great and I couldn't be happier!

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of the Sabrent 16-Port USB Hub
Reviewed in Canada on October 27, 2024
    Size: 16-portVerified Purchase
I recently purchased the Sabrent 16-Port USB Hub from Store4PC, and I must say it's a fantastic product! With its impressive number of ports, I can connect all my devices effortlessly. The build quality is excellent, and it provides reliable performance, making it a great addition to my setup.

Initially, I was a little skeptical about buying from Store4PC because they do not clearly explain that they work directly with Sabrent as an authorized sales partner. To ease my concerns, I reached out to Sabrent directly and confirmed that Store4PC is indeed the only recognized and authorized sales partner for their products.

Important: If you see a seller other than Store4PC, I highly recommend not using them. It’s crucial to purchase from authorized sellers to ensure you're getting a genuine product and reliable support. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the hub itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, I've got more ports!
Reviewed in Canada on May 29, 2023

Does the job -- i now have a comfortable number of ports that are easily accessible to me. I like having the two dedicated charging ports as this way it doesn't try to connect whatever device i'm charging to my computer.

The one quibble (which I've seen other reviewers note as well) is that it's super light/there's no way to secure it to anything. So if you use it in the vertical configuration in the little base provided, any cables you plug in the back will tend to pull the whole thing up at an angle due to the weight of the cables -- see photo. it doesn't bother me, but it's something to be aware of.

Charging could be faster but whatever, it's fine.

Seems to provide USB 3 appropriate speeds. (I've got a couple external hard drives connected to it, file copies seem to go at an appropriate speed).

5.0 out of 5 stars Bin zufrieden
Reviewed in Germany on November 17, 2024
