One of my favorite sketchbooks!

I bought this same sketchbook (8x6 Pentallic Sketchbook) from a Ben Franklin's in 2014 and recently returned to find they no longer carry it. I'm so glad I could purchase another from Amazon.

SKETCHBOOK: My previous 8x6 Pentallic Sketchbook didn't have cover impression defects like the one I ordered from Amazon (photos included), but I really don't mind since I'll scuff up the cover with everyday use. This is one of my favorite sketchbooks because the pages are thick and, in my opinion, very high quality. There is barely any texture to the paper, which I prefer. The paper thickness and smoothness makes it perfect for writing and drawing.

PEN & INKS: I draw and color with Copics (outlining pens & Sketch brush markers), Crayola markers, and Sharpies (writing pens & markers), and many other pens/markers/pencils. Most of the pens I use for outlining and writing do not bleed through to the back of the page. The Copic Sketch brush markers bleed through, mainly because they use Alcohol-based ink. I've also used a quill pen with dipping ink that did not bleed through. Sharpie writing pens do not bleed through (photo of drawing), but Sharpie Markers probably will.

OVERALL: It will probably have some minor defects on the cover, but you're buying a sketchbook with great quality paper at a cheap price! If my new one is used up quickly, I'll be back for another.

Great LITTLE sketchbook

Very happy using this for ink sketches, dry media such as micron pens and stabilo 88 fine tip pens. I did try prismacolor artist markers and while the effect was nice you'll want a blotter card behind the paper as there was total bleed. Same with copics. Nice size. Flexible cover that feels like synthetic dolphin skin (in my head this is what dolphins feel like, no idea about reality). Surprise pocket, bookmark ribbon, and elastic band closure.

Affordable and Well-Made

I've bought two of these journals, and I absolutely love them both. I first bought a 6" x 4", Black journal and then I bought 4" x 3", Purple. I use the bigger one for journaling, notes, and doodles. I bought the smaller one with the intention of using it as one of those "What I Read" book journals. I knew it was going to be smaller than my other one, but when I received it I was still quite surprised by its tininess. That's absolutely not a problem though, and I actually really like the size. I might just by another one to keep in my purse for jotting down notes.

For a journal so cheap, I was initially worried that the paper would be thin and disappointing, but I was pleasantly surprised by how nice and heavy it was. I haven't had any problem with bleeding with the pens (ink and gel) I've used.

Grid Dot Bullet Journaling

This was my very carefully researched first bullet journal to try. I really enjoy it a few weeks in. I bought the 6x8 gray dot grid with the orange elastic strap. My big criterion before purchasing were durability and dot grid paper thickness. So far, about two months in, I'm very pleased.
The cover material on the gray leather one is great. It's smooth, a little "cushiony" if you will. Seems to be wearing in well, though mine lives on my desk more than in my handbag. The elastic strap has already left a bit of an impression on the leather a little less than two months in, but I truly don't care.
The paper is a nice "quiet" white, not to bright a white, and not the ivory that made me decide against the Rhodia version. The dots are consistent, though a perhaps just a little too dark a gray for my taste. The curved shape of the pages will probably help prevent bent and icky corners.
The paper thickness is really enjoyable, and from other photos of other journals, bleed-though seems less likely than in other similar products - this is a very EXCELLENT paper choice for those wishing to utilize both sides of the paper. Please note that I do not have any fountain pens to show how that goes. But show-through is minimal to non-existent with gel pens, metallic water-based inks, art liners, even brush pens. No, you can't expect lack of show-through from alcohol based inks, but then that's a whole other ballgame on paper quantity versus quality. If you want to use copics, prismas and so forth (which I enjoy), you're probably going to want to look into the Crescent paper notebooks from my research. Given my love of gel pens and technical pens, though, there's a lot of possibility with the Pentalic. It even accepts light washes over Inktense pencils, which I thought was impressive, without any real show through.
The envelope at the back is great for coupons or receipts. Held a few pieces of cardstock for me while on the road without deforming the profile of the book. I do wish the cover page and back insert were not a darker ivory color, as I don't think this coordinates well with the white paper and gray cover, but that's me being very picky.
I do wish the book laid a little flatter, but perhaps that will get better over time. I've bent back the cover and pages while doodling on the couch, and the paper withstands un-careful handling very impressively.
I feel like this fulfills most of my wants for a bullet journal, and feel no need to look elsewhere anytime soon.

Extremely convenient sketchbook for mid-size projects

I wish it were sold in my area. This is by far one of the best sketchbooks I had brought in a very long time. I tend to get the larger hardcover spinal books for my drawings and doodling. However, time and space are important and the convenient small size of this sketchbook allows me to draw anywhere without causing too much of distraction at work or any place. The small size also fits nicely in my purse. Plus the band that holds the book closed is very convenient as well. I am amazed how flexible the covers are which makes focusing on just one page easy and comfortable. Not at all clumsy as other tiny sketchbooks are. The fact that the pages are sew to the book rather than bonded with glue makes it easy to draw without fear that the pages will rip off. Most small sketchbooks have the pages glued and tends to slip off or come off as one is drawing intensively. This is a great sketchbook to help practice composition and practice sketching/drawing smaller subjects. The small size is also a convenient way to hide ones adult theme works away from young ones and noisy lookers within the household.

Gets the job done

My favorite sketchbook is the Moleskine. I bought the Traveler for doodles and I bought one for my son. It's a solid sketchbook at a great price.

Adequate paper but not very sturdy

The cover is kind of flimsy, but my daughter is happy with the quality of the paper for her art journal. She's using mostly colored pencils with a little watercolor.
