Works as advertised, has great features and takes what I think is good video. It's easy to install and I love the free downloadable program for viewing the recordings even though it will play on the free default player that came with my computer.
The only problem I had was that when I installed the dash cam on the car window with the very strong and nice suction cup it comes with and then parked the car in cold weather while I ran into a store to shop by the time I came back to the car which wasn't all that long the suction cup released from the window and I found the camera on the floor. I think this was due to the change in temperature as the car window cooled off. So now I just remove the camera from the window in cold weather.

It is a pretty good camera for the money; however, it came with a defective cord that will intermittently power the camera off. It is brand new, and the cord cannot maintain a good enough signal. No biggie, I just contacted Cobra. I emailed them around a week ago and I hadn't heard anything back, so I assumed they were ignoring me. To my surprise, I got a new replacement cord in the mail today. I would recommend the CDR 840, however, I would recommend purchasing a larger micro SD card with it.

Stable and reasonable quality video. Mount is good and stays suctioned to windscreen well. Micro SD format is not standard, have to plug the camera into a computer and read files - then it downloads OK. Starts recording as soon as it is powered on. Sometimes does not overwrite all files on the micro SD and it must be reformatted from the camera menu.

I bought this several months ago after reading many good reviews and gave it a fair chance. Pros: low profile. Cons: The suction did not stay on the windshield, repeatedly came loose. Luckily, I had the cord wrapped around the rearview mirror to prevent the camera from falling in case the suction came loose. Is not user friendly and instructions were poor. Had difficulty downloading on the website to view video. The connection kept coming loose and shutting off the camera. I gave it to my son to try in his vehicle and he voiced the same issues. Update: After reading that others had good results and having giving it more than a fair chance and it failing in every aspect, I believe this camera might be counterfeit

This time though I think I just go a lemon off the starting line, didn't ever want to stay charged and would just stop working without notice from about 5 min from home. Otherwise, the first time I bought one of these it worked like a champ. Each time I hardwired them into the vehicle.
