I bought this in March 2016, and finally got around to reviewing it.

So it has been nearly 2 years now (Feb 2018), and I have this little guy driving a couple of bookshelf speakers, driven by my iPhone 3GS (yes, you read that right..3GS from 2009), streaming with Tune In. I only use the 3GS for Tune In. I have a benchtop 12V power supply supplying power to both the amp and a 12V to USB for the phone.

Details: I checked the frequency response of this little PA with a PC sound card - use iPhone tone generator, and use PC to capture line in (coupled from 8ohm loads resistors, not speakers), then plot freq response with Audacity. My unit was almost flat to ±1 dB or so from about 50 to 20 KHz (over and above the flatness of the phone to PC direct connect), which is good enough for small basement speakers. With a 12V supply, it's plenty loud for a basement...certainly it clips hard around 15W peak power on 12V (V*V/R or 12*12/8 ohms is 18W absolute peak with no compression), but that's fine...it's a $15 amplifier. If you go to the ST website, and download the datasheet for the TD7297, you will see that at 13W(min) or 15W(typ) THD is rated at 10%, which is very compressed, and is just noise! 5w is rated to 1%THD at 15KHz max. It's a $15 amp..not a HiFi $5000 stereo. Heatsink gets a bit warm, but nothing to worry about at normal listening levels.

I just got this little amp. I am using it as a practice electric guitar amp, and its pretty amazing. Output to two 5" speakers, this thing has a nice quality volume knob, and good sound. Its too loud at the 7 o'clock mark, but/and the low volume adjustability is really superb. My fender guitar amp has no low volume friendliness and cannot be adjusted at all for low volume practice, its a 12" 60Watt guitar amp. I highly recommend this little Drok, you can input a cd player or some other input, but the input is a single small plug, its not rca plugs for audio type gear. I got the 97 with the 12vdc 2amp power cord (15w per each channel).

The DROK® TDA7297 PCB Amplifier ROCKS!

I received the DROK® TDA7297 PCB amplifier and 12V, 2A Power Supply right on time, and I received exactly what was advertised on Amazon. I like the three options provided for purchase; 1) amplifier, 2) amplifier & power, and 3) amplifier, power, & speakers. DROK should know best which power adaptor and speakers match the amplifier specs. The PCB amplifier size is perfect; not too large and not too small. It fit perfectly in my cigar box speaker/amplifier project. It cranks! The sound is excellent with the speakers I paired with the amplifier. Full spectrum sound and ample bass coming out of a cigar box only 3.75 in. deep. I have not noticed any static, clipping, or overheating in my project. This amp is powerful! I cannot turn the volume beyond 1/3 of a turn of the potentiometer (volume knob) in my project. If I were using a deeper cigar box, like a Drew Estates Acid box or perhaps even a Oliva Nub box, I think I may be able to push the volume to 1/2 turn. If I had my druthers, I would like to have the power on light (blue) sitting right next to the potentiometer, so the light can be viewed from a control panel, like the volume, 3.5 mm audio input, and 2.5 mm power input. There is no power switch required, since the unit powers on as soon as the power adapter is plugged in. The fact a blue power light is available on the board, is a wasted feature because it is hidden by the box. Also, the heat sync is large considering the size of the chip and the entire board. However, I guess if you want powerful amplification, you have a trade off with generated heat. I'd rather deal with a large heat sync than a board that overheats from too small of a heat sync. All and all, I'm very pleased with purchase price, performance, and service! I'm so pleased, I have ordered six more smaller amplifiers (PAM8403) from DROK, for six new cigar box projects. After I get my projects completed, I'll post another review of the PAM8403 amplifier. I'm looking forward to providing another good review.

Incredible little amp with plenty of power for computer speaker applications

Simply put, I'm very impressed by this board. I used it to build a 2.0 channel soundbar for my computer. With that in mind, 15W/channel is overkill. The system gets very loud in combination with the Hivi B3N drivers I'm using. No buzzing is a great change over my logitech 2.1 system that the soundbar replaced. The included power supply and the incredible price make this a no-brainer for any DIY sound application. My only dislike is the location of the power input. It was a little awkward but I was forced to put the amp in the back right corner of my soundbar. This kept the ports and volume knob usable without having to run any extensions inside the soundbar.

Awesome little amp. I had an old surround center speaker wit two speakers and a tweeter inside. I split the two speakers and hooked them up left-right to this amp.

Plugged in a $12 blue tooth receiver and wow! I not have a kick butt blue tooth speaker that will connect to my computer- phone and Alexa and the volume will run you out of the room .

One little hitch. The cord coming from the power transformer has a problem. wiggle it and it will lose power. Has to be in just the right position for the thing to work.

I've purchased 2 of these mini-amps for use in a few Halloween zombie props. They both work perfectly. Both are receiving sound from old iPods and outputting to passive speakers. One powers an internal speaker for a crawling zombie in my yard. The adjustable volume means the zombie growl can be perfectly adjusted to drown out the motor sound but not overpower yard. The other amp outputs to a passive horn speaker with the input being a warning sound audio file. Holy cow does that get loud! Perfect!
Overall a great price for this Big little amp.
