This interesting documentary from Denmark is narrated by Jason Bateman and co-directed by Daniel Junge and Kief Davidson. You can expect humor throughout the 95 minutes of this G-rated film but even more, you can expect some mind-boggling information about this seemingly simple little toy.

Interviews with geeks who proudly claim the title, teach us that they hold conventions, compete on many levels in many different formats and generally hold this modest creation in very high esteem. Little known fact: The factory where this toy was first built, burned down not once, not twice, but THREE times! Each time it was rebuilt to larger specs and went right on making Legos®. Today they make 100,000 pieces per MINUTE and there now exist over 100,000 pieces for every man, woman and child on earth.

Applications abound:
* A therapist named "Dr Legoff" (no kidding!) successfully treats children with Autism. They learn how to work as a three-person team and it is remarkable!
* People from rock stars to basketball heroes play with Legos® to relax.
* We see an artist (a former lawyer) create an amazing show that draws not only adult aficionados and children, but legitimate art critics!
* We see interviews at MIT, in Japan, Denmark, the Prague, plus countless other cities, where children and adults express their admiration and love for their favorite pastime.
* Legos® are used by movie makers, Master Builders, NASA, architects, city planners, and hobbyists, to name just a few.
* A mathematician at a chalkboard is still working on the "infinite possibilities" offered in the Legos® world.

One of the officials at Lego® recalled when the company almost had to close its doors in the late 1990s because their market tanked.

Great documentary covering all aspects of Lego that you may not know about

Format of the film are as follows:
1. It starts off with a brief history on how lego came to be and a brief glance at present time
2. Tries to hook you in showing some celebrates who also play with Lego
3. Shows different conventions and communities revolving around Lego
4. Go in depth with one of the designers of Lego and his career
5. Shows how some presenters prepare for Lego conventions
6. Denmark mathematics professor trying to prove how many combination of lego is possible
7. Sales collapse and resurgence of Lego
8. Kusso idea/platform
9. Indi lego companies
10. Lego brick fan film community
11. Lego Artists
12. Lego in real life applications
13. Master build contest
14. NASA using Lego
I may be missing one or two, but this was the basic structure from what i remember

Throughout the film,a Lego figure narrator walks around it's own lego universe a la 'Lego Movie' style giving a brief narration in the documentary. I wished there was more of this, as kids find it amusing and there are way too many drawn out interview moments keeping the kid's disinterested having them say things like, "when is the lego guy coming back". Would be great if they would superimpose the figure on screen or have the figure in the background to keep the kids interested.

If you don't have kids and like to watch it on your own or with friends/family with long attentions spans then it's a great documentary filled with fun facts about Lego and the people involved with it. There's a lot of jumping around trying to cram too much into one film, but the information presented was entertaining.

This is an excellent, extremely educational, fast paced and fascinating documentary about the complete Lego history and story. I watched it with my 8 year old nephew and we were both spellbound! Most people would expect a 1.5 hour long documentary to get a little dull or dry after a while - this doesn't! Then, because the nephew and I raved about it for a week, my husband who teaches special education to 4 and 5th graders showed it in his class. Its typically very difficult to find material that manages to capture the attention of students with learning disabilities and is classroom appropriate - they were all captivated. It also provided ample opportunities to teach geography (Lego's were invented in Denmark and sold on every continent), inspire everyone to pursue higher education (who doesn't want to be a Lego engineer?), and show that no matter how diverse cultures around the world may be - we all love Legos! He was able to work it into the standards easily and the kids loved it because they could all relate!

I am not a Lego fanatic but have always enjoyed seeing the various creations made with the little bricks, especially the large items like they have at Disney World and other places. This show is a great documentary, ooops sorry, brickumentary about Legos and the worldwide Lego communities. What people have done with these little bricks is amazing! It was an enjoyable way to learn something about what is being done with Legos, the company history, and the creativity being used with the little bricks.
