Good story, well acted, feels like a pretty realistic portrayal of army hospital conditions in Civil War days. Possibly not a good show if you have a weak stomach for blood, soldiers getting amputations, etc. I'll probably move on to Season 2 at some point.
I saw this first on Masterpiece Theatre and it is riveting account of a woman practicing medicine in in England, in poor sections under challenging conditions of cleanliness, comfort, pain control while fighting the all male establishment. Really worth a watch. I hope to see all seasons appear on Amazon.
My husband and I were captivated by this wonderful series from the start! At times we would watch two episodes in one night! The actors are excellent and each episode keeps you wondering how the currant issue at hand gets resolved through the episode! It doesn't take long before one almost forgets they are wathing a television drama instead of real life! The story line is captivating and the theme timeless with man always trying to alter the status quo! Bravo to English drama and to Bramwell as well!
