Great set
This is the second set of Henckels I have bought in my lifetime. The last set lasted a very long time. This set is great because it has such a wide variety of knives for the serious cook. I like the configuration a great deal. The knives have a good heft to them and the quality is what I expect as a Henckels customer.Update: quality of Henckels has deteriorated badly. After only three years every handle on this set has cracked and is falling apart. Nothing like past quality. Don’t buy this set. Not worth ygee we short time it lasts.

I bought this set of knives for my fiance to replace his old set. The construction seems solid and the blades are very sharp right out of the box. Each piece feels well-made--the blade metal extends through to the end of the handle so they have a good feel in the hand and feel well-balanced. I don't know the technical terms for the various parts of the knives but hopefully my description is good enough to convey what I'm trying to say.

My only complaint (and the reason for four stars rather than five stars) is that the handles of the knives have been scratched. I'm not sure how but each handle has noticeable fine scratches, as if they've been rubbed with steel wool or something similar. They were well-packaged so I don't think the scratching happened during shipment--it must have happened during production.

Anyway, this is a good set of knives that feels like it will last a while. If my impression changes I'll update my review.
