First off, this Bluetooth receiver sounds great, connects smoothly and the built in mic works great. I was able to make a call with the windows down, while driving down the highway and the person on the other end could understand me perfectly. The audio quality when listening to music is crisp and clear. The buttons on the receiver are responsive and easy to use. I was able to mount it on my dashboard with ease and it's aesthetically pleasing. I love this device and I highly recommend it to anybody looking for a BT kit for their vehicle.

I did have a few minor issues with this unit.

1. Since the unit has to be plugged into the vehicle's usb port, it suffers from ground loop noise. Most other BT Car kits on the market include a ground look noise isolator. I had to purchase one and this issue was resolved.

2. This unit doesn't come with a car usb plug, which several other similar kits include as well. So, again, I had to purchase one.

3. The 3.5mm cable and usb cable are extremely short, so your plug and aux jack have to be very close or you won't even be able to use this. Luckily, the ground loop isolator allowed me to plug a longer audio cable into it and that extended the length of the cable to a usable length.

All in all, I think if Anker updated this kit to include these options, they could raise the price minimally and have the best kit on the market, especially for the price.

What I like:
-Appearance blends into the car dashboard without standing out too much
-Audio quality is generally good with a decent mix of low, mids and highs
-No noticeable hiss with my vehicle
-Steady Bluetooth connection

What I don't like:
-Does not auto power on when the vehicle is started; requires pressing the button to turn it on
-USB and audio cables are very thin and flimsy and not user replaceable
-USB and 3.5mm cable barely have enough separation to reach my USB and my 3.5mm line in port
-Buttons don't feel very obvious to the touch
-No lighter-jack to USB adapter included

Conclusion: While the Anker SoundSync Drive is on the cheaper end of Bluetooth adapters, the audio quality is generally very good, with no noticeable distortion. It makes sacrifices in other areas though, notably the cabling is very thin (see the attached photo for a comparison between a regular USB cable and the Anker cabling) and there's no way to easily replace it if it breaks. Another thing about the cabling is that the USB and 3.5mm cables have only a couple inches of separation. This is not ideal for vehicles where the USB port or line in cable is located somewhere obscure like the centre console. Since the cables are not replaceable it's not as easy as installing a separate cable. To make it work a 3.5mm cable extender would be needed. The other thing to note is that this receiver does not automatically power on with the car, and that is a deal breaker for me - I'll find myself driving and wondering why there's no music, only to remember that I forgot to enable the Bluetooth adapter. Call quality is about as expected in terms of car Bluetooth - it's not that bad, but don't expect miracles here.Read more ›

Works as promised! I'm driving a 2008 BMW528i that has bluetooth for phonecalls, but in 2008 they hadn't figured out how to handle other bluetooth capabilities like playing music, pressing pause, forward, skip back, etc. This device makes it all work perfectly.

I was a little disappointed with this bluetooth. The wires were shorter than I expected. To install the bluetooth in a way that it would be central and pick up my voice well I wanted to put it near the audio controls on my radio, however the aux port for my car is in my middle console, the wires will reach but only barely, leaving them stretched across my shift knob in my manual transmission car. I ended up installing it flat next to my shift knob so the wires were not stretched across the car, and that worked ok.

The next issue I faced which is really not the fault of the device was that there was a lot of feedback due to connecting to the aux and power in the car. This is a common problem caused by ground loops which happens when the audio source and the speaker use the same power source. This would have happened with any device including when I used to connect my phone to the Aux and then to the power to charge it while on long drives. It is important to note that here though, as I found that to correct it, I had to additionally purchase a ground loop filter (which is sold on amazon as well, and was not expensive) which resolved the issue.

Finally, we took care of all the issues to install.....how did it work?! I found that it worked well for what it was doing. I could hear the caller through the speakers in my car, they could hear me well enough. The mic did pick up a lot of other noise while driving, so that was unfortunate. I thought it might have to do with having it placed flat next to the shift knob so I did try to string it across the car and put it next to the stereo as originally planned, the callers noticed still a lot of other sounds like wind, traffic, even if I had hit a bump... and often the background noise was louder than me.Read more ›
