Perfect crimps every time. However, I did have to loosen the adjustment wheel one notch clockwise in order to get the tool to release the crimped terminals. I received no instructions with my crimper. Fortunately I've used similar crimpers enough to know how they work. I thought I'd include some instructions for those of you that haven't:
It should take one-hand to run the crimper down to the last "click" then two hands (or one really strong hand) to squeeze the last click out of the ratchet and release the terminal. If you are able to do the whole thing one handed, you may not be getting a good cold weld of the joint, in which case you need to adjust it tighter by turning the adjustment wheel one notch at a time Counter-Clockwise.
Conversely, if the terminals aren't releasing even after completely compressing the handles until they touch, you need to loosen the crimp one notch at a time Clockwise until it does. You will not be able to adjust the wheel while it is stuck in the crimped state. You will need to press the shiny metal lever located in the handle, just below the adjustment wheel in order to manually release the ratchet. You may need to use a hard object like a flat bladed screwdriver to press hard enough on the lever to get it to release, depending on how much tension is on it. Then take the set-screw out, make the adjustment, reinstall the set screw, and re-try the crimp.
If desired, you can use the other set screw hole to fine-tune the adjustment knob by a half-notch.

This crimper works perfectly. You can crimp one side and then the other - no problem. In fact, I think that's the way it's supposed to be used, not crimping both wires in a butt joint at the same time. It's a bit bulky if you need to get into tight places, but that's not really a complaint, just an observation.
Makes a neat crimp, stamps a little number into the connector and tapers the end of the connector to neaten things up. Feels like a very solidly built tool, very precise, good components. Whoever complains that it's hard to squeeze needs to exercise. It's pretty easy to operate. Shoulda bought this years ago!

I really like these crimpers. I have worked with a lot of high cost namebrand crimpers and these work just as good as any of them. They crimp the connectors evenly and completely. I test every crimp by pulling on the wire afterwards and haven't had a single one pull out or even move and I have performed hundreds of crimps. If you lightly clamp down on a connector to hold it and then for some reason need to open the crimpers up, it can be tricky to push down on the little silver metal tab under one of the handles but doing so will release the positive ratcheting feature and allow the crimpers to open up all the way. These crimpers are more bulky around the head than basic crimp pliers so on rare occasions I can't get this crimper to fit into a tight spot. Those situations call for the old school piercing type crimper pliers and using them occassionaly reminds you how much physical exertion it takes to do a good crimp with those types. It also reminds you how ugly those crimps look compared to the crimps this ratcheting crimper does. I dont anticipate having to replace this anytime soon.

Works great with less brute force!

I couldn't wait to use it on my project, so I tried it on 10AWG wires with both insulated and heat-shrink connectors. It makes nice double crimp on insulated connectors; one for cold weld, the other for the insulation. The crimp was very solid and very nice. The crimper is effortless to use. Then I tried it on the heat-shrink connectors. It makes the cold weld crimp, and the insulation at the end simply bounce back after crimper is released. Then I heat-shrank the end. Looked so nice. Only wish I could discover this earlier. Toss away other plier ones, so hard on the fingers and makes ugly crimp.

I bought these because they were the least expensive set of crimpers that looked like a legitimate set of ratcheting full cycle crimpers. Given that these are a third to a quarter the price of what i would expect to see for something like this i was skeptical but willing to take a chance.
These things are awesome. They are heavy and feel super durable. The pivots are tight and the ratchet mechanism works great and. They produce great crimps on a wide variety of terminals i had.
Given the price of these there is no reason to even consider the non-ratcheting stuff that is on the market from $10-$25.

To use with heat shrink terminals you must first shrink the crimped end before you crimp it or you will destroy the heat shrink tubing. This will make it harder to check for wire pullout and crimp tension and makes it horribly difficult to use in tight spaces. This also means that you can't use the crimper to hold the terminal then insert the wire (re: heat shrink terminals) and I strained every time to properly line it up. This tool makes 2 crimps at once. One for the wire to terminal crimp and one to crimp the hard plastic insulator around the wire. That second crimp is unnecessary and does nothing but overcomplicate what should be a simple process. My old plier style crimper performs much better! These will most likely end up in the trash.
Again.... The crimp that actually holds the wire inside the terminal is what counts and this crimper does nothing special, nothing better than your average plier style crimper.

I find these little hard to use for me for professional unit! Seems to do the job after you have more then a few failures like I did, but it seems to me the ratchet mechanism should give you much better crimp leverage then this crimper gives you. My experience tells me you really have a real strong hand to bear down on the crimp to get the unit to crimp reliably.

These work OK and they make a good crimp when they work right but they're not very smooth to operate. Hard to get them adjusted right and they don't work well in tight spaces like in a console or under a dash. A little too bulky and cumbersome for me.
