I have an older Onkyo stereo component that was clicking incessantly and I had narrowed it down to a bad relay. Got the replacement part but didn't have any de-soldering wick to simplify removing the old relay that had 9 solder points. Nobody local carried it, even major electric supply house. So i ordered this and waited another few days for delivery.
E. A. S. Y. Peasy! I just put the end of the wick onto the joint being de-soldered, applied the hot iron tip for a few seconds and could see the solder wicking up into the braided wick! Using wire cutter, I cut the used 3/4" or so off every couple joints to get fresh edge/end. After maybe 3 minutes, simply pushed out the old relay. Then using a fresh edge of thenwisk, kinda "hot mopped" each point with the wick and iron to clean each point. Slid the new relay through the board and soldered it down.
Whole thing done in about 7 or 8 minutes. And that old Onkyo is back in service!
I'm by no means a technician or repair guy but have always been one to DIY things and have a very broad knowledge base on basic repairs of different things. This was my first time de-soldering with wick, and not sure why I didn't get this stuff before! Works great.

Bewertet in den USA am1. August 2024My first time using a solder wick and I am very impressed. It does a great job removing solder from surfaces as well as from through-holes.

Bewertet in den USA am4. März 2024This de-soldering wick works good. Much better than the generic stuff that comes with soldering irons. This wick almost immediately soaks up the solder which is great so you don't have to hold the hot iron too long on the item you're trying to fix.

Bewertet in den USA am15. März 2023I didn't realize how great this stuff is until, after running out of this, I unintentionally purchased a solder wick without flux. Oof! This stuff does a great job of sucking up solder without having to apply flux to the work area. It's relatively cheap as well.
I generally use the Hakko FR-301 for desoldering, but this wick came in handy plenty of times, and lasted me 3 years.

Bewertet in den USA am26. Mai 2023I'm new to soldering, so I can't really say much about its capabilities compared to other products. But I found this really easy to use, and it did its job well! Little bit of heat, and it sucks away all the solder that it can. You'll know when to move to another part of the strand when the previous one is completely silver! Again, since I'm a newbie, it took me a bit to understand how to completely use it, but it suited my needs 100% and I will get it again in the future for sure.

Bewertet in den USA am16. Juni 2022This solderwick simply performs and OUTPERFORMS ALL OTHERS I'VE USED. True messless and no clean solder wick makes everything faster and neater. Usually if you're wicking solder you're already going about fixing a problem or mistake and the last thing anybody needs, is solder wick that won't absorb solder, that smokes excessively and stinks, and that leaves puddles of sticky goo all over the PCB and the solder joint. Highly recommended, from a 17 year professional in the electronics industry.

Bewertet in den USA am11. Juli 2021Using solder wick is an acquired skill. It takes some work. This works great, but I do wish it was slightly wider. The way the wick comes out of this is a little odd, it's not exactly like a regular round spool. It has like a plastic cup that covers the spool and then you pull it out from the side. This doesn't work as well as it should, the wick has a tendency to fold in half down the middle if you're not careful.
Still, this is quality solder wick and does the job of wicking solder excellently. If you have any trouble, try adding a tiny bit of new solder (or a little flux) to the solder joint first, then apply the wick.

Bewertet in den USA am17. Mai 2024I used this for 60/40 resin core electrical solder. Wicks nicely and the right size for guitar electronics. I recommend it. Also, Not from China which is a plus. Especially with compliance and our economy in mind.
