I have only had the opportunity for one run using this backpack. My reason for purchasing it was to be able to carry thing while running errands, particularly to the library. I tried running to the library with other backpacks I have, but they moved around a lot or could not handled a decent load of books.
I tried a test run with a sing, heavier book, the hard back of Tim Ferris's 4 Hour Body ( http://www.amazon.com/Hour-Body-Uncommon-Incredible-Superhuman/dp/030746363X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1440637676&sr=8-1&keywords=4+hour+body ). There are a series of adjustable straps to secure the pack; the shoulder straps, chest straps, and waist straps. I was able to secure these straps easily for a snug but comfortable fit. While running I was able to adjust the straps on the fly as needed (tightened the shoulders and loosened the waist). I was able to set the pack so that there was no bounce, so the weight was not noticeable. I did adjust the waist strap to loosen it to make it easier to breathe.
I've had a limited test of this pack, but so far it seems to be good for running. There is about 1/4" padding inside the pack as well to protect you from your load. There is also an insert are to add a water bladder that would be useful for longer runs or wandering when you need water. So far this pack is everything I wanted in a running backpack and I look forward to using it more.

It’s a good pack so far...bought it for a trip to Alaska. Side pockets are stupid. Like the other reviews commented...the foam panel in the back is removable if you don’t want the form fitting back thing for the bladder. It drove me nuts. Doesn’t hold much...you basically pay for the brand. But material is nice. Sturdy. Comfortable. Even has a whistle on the chest buckle. Just found that while sitting in the airport! For $36 I can’t complain.

Great light weight pack for a day out. I used this pack on a cruise to Cozumel and recently on a trip to the Indy 500. There's enough space in the main pocket for all necessities and some souvenirs as well. The large mesh pockets on each side are great for drink bottles or sunscreen. The small secondary pocket on the top front of the bag is good for small accessories like extra GoPro batteries and SD cards. I didn't use a hydration system, but the pocket is good for anything you don't need to be secured and keep easily accessible.The back panel has a firm pad and light frame to keep control of your load, while maintaining low weight and small size. Thin breathable mesh on the shoulder straps and back panel allow for good air flow during hot days. A carry handle at the top of the straps is perfect for slinging the bag around when not on your shoulders. Materials and build quality seem good, and have not shown any wear/damage so far. Color options are vibrant and of high quality.
There are only a couple of things that kept this bag from being 5 stars. I would have liked for the small secondary pocket to be waterproof and/or have a water resistant flap over the zipper similar to the main pocket. The zipper on the main pocket probably should have been a little more robust, rather than such a fine zipper. It's slightly difficult to close and feels like it may be a weak link in the design eventually.
As a side note, the waist strap comes off easily when not in use. I had no use during my travels for the waist strap, and when not in use it hangs down in the way and makes the shoulder straps fit strange. You can simply pull the strap out of the buckles and it solves both issues.
Overall, great pack if you're looking for a lightweight, water resistant, day bag that retains a lot of capability. It also looks really nice and seems to be made well. The price might be a little high for what it is, but it's also of higher quality. I would buy again.
