These things are great. I haven't tried to run tower speakers off one of these little guys, but I've been able to make any little bookshelf speaker flex hahaWould highly recommend this item.My phone lens is broken so the blue streaks are the leds in the amps haha

My experience (so far) with the Technical Pro MA2020 Stereo Mini-Amp is totally different than Ian K and Brad S had - I guess maybe I just got lucky, but I suspect they probably sell way more good ones than troublesome units. Anyway, mine is SUPERB and it performs all of its functions way beyond my expectations, especially considering the low cost. I would have happily paid 3 times as much if I had known just how good it was going to be! With nothing connected to the inputs, there is absolutely no hiss, buzz, snaps, pops or any other discernible sounds in the headphones at any volume level - and when there IS an input, the sounds are totally faithful to the source material, again at any volume level you set - no detectable distortion in my Sennheiser phones. And I love the Bass and Treble controls!

Finally, a note to Ian K about the volume control - his rant about it not controlling ALL of the outputs from the amp is totally uncalled for - volume controls on power amps are specifically for adjusting the power delivered to speakers/headphones. The line outputs are another thing entirely - and you will never find a "volume control" for line outputs - they are there for one purpose only - that is to feed a low voltage clean signal to a power amp or possibly a pre-amp. If there is any control on the Line Output (there rarely is), it is usually in the form of a small screwdriver adjustment on the rear panel and will be labeled "Line Level" or something like that.

I suspect Ian is used to computer inputs and outputs, where the PC's volume slider does indeed control "Volume" of all the outputs, but that is a special case and has nothing to do with hi-fi/stereo equipment standards. Line level outputs on quality audio equipment are designed to a uniform standard so that they can deliver a low voltage level signal that will work with any amplifier's Line Inputs. Wikipedia has a very good article for those of you that are interested in knowing the details.

Surprisingly Satisfied. I have to admit, I was totally sceptical at first, but I'm glad I bought this. Overall it does its job good. I purchased these to bring up the volume on my SHP9500s when connected to the ps4. Granted, I had to buy addition adapters to make it work, but in the end I'm truly satisfied.
No sign of hissing sound yet or static. At first it was cutting out, but it ended up being my optical cable. If you're interested in using it for a wired ps4 headset/headphone you'll need a digital to analog converter and an optical cable. Once that's set up you simply connect your headset to the 3.5mm headphone jack and you're good to go. Note: i have my sound system connected to headphone jack imstead via aux and my headset connected to the sound system and it gave me even extra amplification which was great! That might be why I'm so happy about the results, but there you go. It took me a bit to find the perfect bass and the right amount of treble, but once I found the sweet spot it's all good. Don't expect $200 amp results though. This is a budget amp, remember that.
Cons: the power supply is ridiculously short and the aux cable that comes with it is also short, I'm glad I had longer ones laying around. My other complaint is that I wish they imcluded shorter screws to mount it. Overall satisfied though, we'll se how ong it lasts.

Purchased this to power a pair of $19 Sennheiser ear buds to watch TV. Was using an existing computer desktop speaker system with headphone output for several years and the low end is fading. No doubt due to old capacitors. Thought that this might be a good replacement. I WAS DEAD WRONG! Even with the volume knob turned ALL THE WAY UP, the earbud loudness was barely above line level...BARELY....and even with the EQ turned on and the BASS and TREBBLE TURNED ALL THE WAY UP!!! Heck, even the cheap pair of Amazon PC desktop speakers I purchased for $20 had way more volume (db) output than this darn thing does when I hooked it up to them. Unbelievable! For the price, you'd think the quality would be a bit better. Also the DC power adapter cord is waaaaay too short (like only 3 ft long!! if that!) I was hoping to get an A/C powered headphone amp with some tone controls but it looks like there's just nothing out there that's not too bulky or expensive. Guess, I should just buy another pair of AmazonBasics computer speakers with headphone a headphone jack output and I'll have better luck......and quality!

I want to start by saying that for the price, this is a good product. It does what it says it does, and nothing else. However, don't expect to be blown away by it. I would also like to preface this by saying that I have barely touched the surface of digital audio, and used this as a learning experience.

When I pulled it out of the box, my first thought was how light it is. It's only a 40w amp, so I guess that's par for the course. This is not going to amaze you... The power cable in the back does not plug in all the way or click in, so don't try to force it in further. Any thing that I tried to run through the amp, other than the 2 speakers for high end output, has sounded awful. I ended up buying RCA splitters so that I could run everything else through my DAC.

That being said, the 2 speakers that you wire out of it sound great. As long as that is the only thing that you plan to put through this, you'll enjoy it. I like the fact that you can screw it into your desk, or wherever you want really. I'll end up replacing this eventually when I want to put higher end speakers up, but not anytime soon.

I just use it for ear phones and don't drive speakers with it. It works fine for that purpose. There is a very slight hum when the volume is turned up high. Also for ear buds the maximum volume isn't as loud as you might expect, but should be loud enough for most purposes. The bass and treble controls don't seem to do much to the sound but again, it is a very inexpensive device and it meets and exceeds my low expectations. Don't expect anything great from this little amp and you won't be disappointed.
