It started off slow. But the acting has gotten better. They veer off on the original story line a little for some parts, but overall its following the book. The chemistry is somewhat lackluster in Clary and Jace but wonderful between Bane and Jace's parabatai. The actor who plays Simon is great on his comedic timing. So far, the actors who are spot on as their characters are Simon and Bane. Overall, the storyline is picking up better and I'm actually starting to look forward to each episode.
I LOVE this show! As a huge fan of the books, I came into this series and decided to have a clear mind and just watch it. After all I knew it was going to be different and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised. I have watched both season 1 and 2 so this review actually goes for both of them. I LOVE the acting, it gets better and better. It's obvious these actors/actresses care about the characters and are working very hard. The story is entertaining and it keeps you wanting more. I for one hope this show continues for a long while. One thing I have to say is that there is one twist in here that I wasnt expecting. However, because of that twist I have hopes for a certain future character. To anyone who is a fan of the books, I urge you to keep a clear mind and just go into this show wanting to have fun and you'll love it. Spread the word! Love the shadowhunters!!
I love the show and loved all the books. The cast is more like I envisioned than the cast in the movie. I did like the movie but feel it did not get off the ground as it should have. It needed more exposure just like what is on youtube now. As to the color of clary's hair it is just as described in the books. I would love to see a movie of the clock work Angel or a TV movie how great would that be? So all of us fans need to support the shows as much as we support and love the books. That way we will see more of the lovely Clary and that fair and handsome Jase. Lets support all of the actor's in their roles as they put the idea's from Cassandra's books on to the screen. Hi to all from a fan in Austin,Tx
I have read all of her books several times and they are all amazing. I own the first season on amazon video and watch all of the time especially when season two is coming out next week Monday January 2nd. I love this show but in the books Jace is a really big smart alec and in this show he is way to nice. All the way through the books he would give his own opinion and would stand by it but here he is not himself. Katherine the girl that plays Clary is very dramatic and in the book she would freak out but not as bad as she does. It is really good though and I cannot wait to watch season two and with this season I hope they bring Sebastian into this to make things more interesting. I hope that they can make characters themselves. I can't wait for season two!
This is an excellent series. I watched the four episodes or so, and then began to read the first book. I was impressed with how closely it followed certain mythology, and finishing the first book of the series, I noticed certain plot changes, that make sense for the TV arch line. As someone who pays extremely close attention to story archs in books, television, and movies, I can see where the subtle changes were in Shadowhunters from City of Bones, but they are changes that makes sense for a tv show. The joy of a Television show is that we can explore multiple characters and their journeys at the same time, where a book focuses more on one person and their journey, in this case Clary's. Here we can see more of the journeys of the characters of Alec, Magnus, Jace, Isabelle, Simon, and Luke. I'm enjoying the show and can't wait to watch more.
I've read the whole series I read the first book years ago and never read the series. The show inspired me too. I love them both!!! The show isn't exactly like the books but I love it more because of that. Alec in the show is better in my opinion and he is my fabrics character in the book. I love Izzy as well in both such a strong women and beautiful. Clary is great too she's not perfect but I still like her a lot. Magnus is soooo funny Harry is the perfect Magnus exactly what I Imagined. And lastly Jace is so strong and interesting. I really love the show and honestly so glad I watched it. I haven't loved a show the way I've loved this show in years. Can't wait for season 2 coming in 2017
Okay, so I'm a huge fan of the books and if you've read them you will watch the show and see tons of changes. When I was younger that's something that would have bothered me a whole lot but now I don't get as bothered. I try to separate books and adaptations in my mind because if you get mad about every change you'll hate it. Though there are occasionally things that still make me go, "what?! no! That's not right!"(ex. BLONDE Tessa showing up on one of those high tech institute things), I'm enjoying it for the most part. Despite lots of plot changes you can tell the creators payed attention to the books, Infernal Devices included, and there are some changes that actually aren't bad. Some things are meh and others are great (Like Alec and Simon, I mean c'mon).
I have read the mortal instrument books, and am absolutely in love with the books, but this TV show is completely different. Its pretty bad acting, and doesn't stick the plot AT ALL. Its good for binge watching, I guess, And I will buy the second season bc I really liked the books, but in all, don't spend money on it unless you have plenty extra to spend. However the plot IS COMPLETELY GONE. Feel like they shouldn't call it shadow hunters and call it something else based off of The Mortal Instruments. Would really appreciate it if a good directer actually did a REAL mortal instruments TV show, not a bad one like this.
