When I first saw the material and how it was stitched around the monofin, I had my doubt about how durable this tail was. Well, it last all summer last year. So, now it is 2017 and she has worn the tail about 8-10 times since summer vacation began and it still looks great.I saw the prices for Shimmertail yesterday and couldn't believe how low the prices had dropped!! Is this a mistake?? If so, I took advantage of it and ordered a new tail to have a back up one just in case.My kid looooooooves her Shimmertail. I will say that we do take very good care of our tail. She was six last summer and I helped her put on her tail every single time and lowered her into the pool. This year, she requests for my assistance still and I gladly provide it and because of this I think there's less wear and tear on the tail.Thanks Shimmertail for making an affordable mermaid tail on the market and turning my kid into a "real" mermaid!

I bought this as a surprise for my 10 year old Granddaughter. She was ecstatic to say the least. The only problem she has had is her feet slipping out of the straps inside the tail. Perhaps a pair of water shoes would help, she just hasn't tried that yet. She is not a strong swimmer and had no problem in shallow water about chest deep. It has a removable hard plastic fin which does not get in the way of allowing her to stand up.

I've only had it for a few days, but I've tried it out a couple of times and it's super fun! I wanted to review it because I ordered the adult size for MYSELF! I usually wear about a size 12, so I was nervous that the tail wouldn't fit, but it did. It was even a little loose! I was a college swimmer and I coach high school swimming now. Several of my swimmers played with it and I tried it out, too. You can definitely swim in it, but it's going to take some strong abs and knowing how to dolphin kick/swim like a mermaid. The monofin at the bottom is fairly flimsy, but it's fine for just playing around at the pool in. I was really excited to find the fin for this price. The Shimmertail sight was WAY more expensive and this wouldn't be worth that price. For the $20ish I paid, it's totally worth it, just for a few fun times.

This Is the best tail for its price. When you put on the tail, the monofin pokes out of the bottom a little bit and the monofin is weirdly shaped. It doesn’t look as elegant and beautiful like a mermaids tail should. The “monofin” is just a piece of thin plastic with two straps for your feet. The tail itself seemed like a good material but it was a little big, but not big enough for it to be a problem.
