I ordered the black yoga mat but was sent this blue one, and because the blue mat is the one I am actively trying to replace I’m reviewing it here to hopefully prevent anyone else from buying it. If you are sent this blue mat (which is not the same as the thicker one currently on this listing - the underside is white) please do not assume it’s the same as the black one and send it back immediately! I am not hard on my mats, I only use it for core and yoga, and this mat fell to pieces within a couple months! I contacted the bb customer service but because I was out of the 30 day window they “couldn’t do anything.” Every time I used the mat small pieces would flake off and make a mess all over my floor. I would not recommend this mat and it is the worst one I’ve ever owned. I hate that it was such poor quality because I really liked the comfort of it and it didn’t slip at all, two qualities that have been hard to find. Unfortunately, the lack of durability rendered it unusable. I’m reordering here in hopes of getting the black mat that is pictured and described on this listing, and in perhaps foolish hopes that the black mat quality is much better.
I needed some added support while laying on my back for workouts and I was super excited when I found beachbody’s mat! It is very comfy but there are a few negatives, tears easily, it’s a super short mat, (it’s supposed to be short but for me being 5’1” it is extremely short) also I wish they sent a strap to wrap it up while it wasn’t in use! Hope this helps!
Loved the color. I ordered the 5" thick as would be used on a wood floor. I was little disappointed that it isn't as thick as I would have liked. Nor as long, but I may have overlooked the dimensions. I bought this with the intention of doing my Physical Therapy stretches on for my back surgery recovery. I will look for another mat to purchase and use this one on top of it. I really didn't notice an odor either so that wasn't an issue for me. 😊
This is good for it’s intended purpose. If you just need something to provide comfort for floor exercises, and you don’t need or want something that’s the length of your entire body, this will do the job. However, it won’t last forever. It does get worn down. The length of time it lasts will depend on how long you tolerate it once it gets worn down. I have had to replace mine a couple times. Old ones are still good to provide comfort for your knees if you are working on your knee. We have found a couple other uses for old ones too. However, if you want something that will last years and years, then I’d look elsewhere.
There are several yoga mats to consider when doing an at home exercise program. At the time I bought this, it was only $30, so I decided to give it a try. When I first opened it, the first thing I noticed was the smell. It had a strong chemical odor to it. But wanting to give it a try, I toughed out through the smell. I used this first for power 90, noticing that it moves very slightly when you're stretching, but it wasn't as bad as the throw rug I used before. When I did cardio 3-4, it seemed to fuel my legs, the yoga mat absorbed all of the pressure from my running lunges and made me bounce right into another one. It actually made me exhausted at first, because this yoga mat helped me go so fast, I was doubling what Tony Horton was doing! After power 90, I saw fantastic results (especially since I was considered obese before doing it and lost 20 pounds after only 2 months), so I decided to put my yoga mat (and my body =P) to the test by purchasing Insanity. (If you buy insanity buy it off of teambeachbody.com, its cheaper than amazon and they give you a bonus free workout that otherwise you would pay $20 for) Although I haven't officially began it yet ( on account of getting a nasty cold) I did a few workouts and the yoga mat held its own, even on the pounds of sweat I was pouring on it. In conclusion its a great solution for anyone who works out on a wood or tiled floor as long as you can deal with the smell the first few weeks.
Pros: - Great for jumping (helps joints) - Sturdy almost rubber like - Hard to damage - Cheap
Cons: - Moves slightly when stretching - God awful smell the first few weeks - A little too small ( hard to do push ups on)
