There are better yoga videos out there. Her tips are helpful, but this DVD requires quite a bit of upper body and core strength. I practice yoga daily, and it is def "power" yoga. Not for those new to yoga or looking for a nice flow.
Awesome 20 minute work out. The best part of this video is that Erica takes the time to make sure she explains the proper way to hold a pose and she reminds you throughout the workout how you should be holding your body and which muscles you should be engaging. I am able to apply these mini-lessons to other workouts and this has definitely helped to greatly improve my plank!
My goodness! This was A LOT of talking for such a short video. This is the second video I have watched from this instructor, and she definitely is too lengthy with the explanations. In yoga, you typically do not hold a pose for more than 8 breaths. Due to the constant talking, the instructor exceeds that limit throughout the length of the video. I would recommend adding in vinyasas during these lengthy hold times--that's what I did! I understand the explanations are targeted toward beginners, but once you explain in its entirety on the first set or first side there is no need to continue to do it on the second set or second side. I'm pretty sure I heard her say to grab opposite elbows more than once on the forward fold... she could have fit in more poses with less talking. If you are a veteran yogi, I would not recommend this video. If you are a beginner, I would still recommend you look elsewhere. There are better quality videos for beginners, where you can receive better instructions and a better workout.
If I was more advance in practicing yoga I would give it a 5 star rating. If you're a beginner I recommend a different video. I did enjoy the workout, it's a little faster pace and you definitely feel the results the next day.
I guess I should have realized this was yoga for weight loss which is a disappointment. My fault, yoga is so much more than that. It 's ok you want to take yoga to lose weight but a teacher to teach a 20 minute yoga that starts so quickly and ends so abruptly is just wrong. This is not yoga at all. Will not this video again. It will probably hurt someone if you do this first thing in the morning without proper warm up.
