A good convenient connector

I bought this item about two weeks ago. This is a very convenient and useful product. It is easy to connect with one hand while driving. It will also extend the life of micro-USB port because you do not really need to plug in. The footage of the micro connector is small enough that you can leave it on the device all the time.

The quality looks very solid too. The wire is made of fiber rather than rubber which should make it last longer. When I use it to charge my Samsung Note 3 phone, Galaxy Charging Current shows the charging current can reach average 1200MA and maximum 1800MA, which is the best I can get from a micro-USB charger (some low quality USB cable can only give me 400-800MA current). The length of cable is 3'4", which is long enough for me to connect my phone from windshield to power outlet.

One suggestion I like to make is to have an option to buy cables separately or have packages with multiple cables and one micro-connector. I usually leave the cable in my car all the time. When I bring my phone to home, I usually connect it to a wall charger. I have to unplug the micro-connector and plug in a regular micro-USB cable. That is very inconvenient. The microconnector may easy to be lost. I wish I can have another cable at home that works with the same micro-connector, therefore I can truly leave the micro-connector on the phone all the time.

I wish they'd sell just extra cables

My primary purpose for buying this was for a phone mount in the car.. I was using a wireless quick charger for my S7 Edge but sometimes it just couldn't charge fast enough so long drives slowly drained the phone. I bought the two pack and keep one cable in my work backpack and one in the car at all times. It's an absolute breeze attaching it to the phone each time and with no worries about damaging the phone's port. You just have to get the cable near the USB plug and it snaps together very well with almost no effort. I do keep my phone vertical though.
If you have a Quick Charge charger in the car and you attach the cable with the light facing the front it will Quick Charge the phone just like with a normal cable. I verified this not only with the phone saying so but with an inline USB power meter and confirmed that it charges at a voltage and amperage similar to using a straight cable. Flipping the cable so the light faces backwards will still charge the phone but in standard charging mode.
For me just having two cables is enough but I use a wireless charging station at home so I never need another cable at home. If you don't use wireless charging I would recommend buying a third to keep plugged in somewhere. Also, get a wireless charger if your phone supports it. You'll love it.
The plug itself is pretty tight so absolutely no worries about it falling out. I have also consistently ran my fingers along the contacts and I have no worries about accidentally shorting it at least with skin anyway. If you use a case it makes the plug seem even shorter so I would recommend that otherwise it would just stick out more.
My suggestion to this company is to sell just extra cables like they are now selling just extra micro USB plugs. I would think for the most part people would want more cables and not plugs. My extra plug is who knows where but I'm not missing it.

The convenience and the wear-and-tear saved on your devices make these cables a must-have. However, I do find that the tabs, when inserted, are not flush with the exterior of your devices. They do protrudes a bit, leaving them vulnerable to possible bumping or catching on things. On the other extreme, some of my phone cases will not allow a connection because there is not enough room for the USB to fit and connect with the inserted tab. But I find these inconveniences to be minor, when compared to the benefits of the cables.I purchased a second set!

THE GOOD THINGS:
The cable itself is very nice, although mine came with completely gold micro-usb connector, contrary to the picture.

THE BAD
- The micro USB stick out a lot from my phone and tablet (Nexus 6 and Nexus 9) About 1mm.
- The micro-USB is "normal" size and in my phone is too loose. It falls very easily. Even in my tablet with a pretty new USB, it will come off if you pull it from the cable. I have other magnetic connector I bought in a gas station, and the micro-usb is evidently a bit oversized so its very hard to pull out with your fingernail.
- Although it does support QuickCharge, the micro-usb side gets extremely hot. I mean uncomfortable to the touch. Could be that the connection with my worn down connector in my phone is the problem. I just wont risk my phone. I think that 2 to 3 amps is too much for this product.
- The magnetic force is very weak. I wanted to use my tablet while charging and its simply impossible. The weight of the cable is enough to disconnect the pins. Im using it right now for stationary charging a bluetooth speaker and a remote and and it works fine.

Good investment in protection & convenience

I will never go back to non magnetic cables again.

The smart & cool silver 2 pack was purchased before this single, black charging / data transfer cable I purchased for a kindle HD 8 (prev. gen.) To protect the new device from damage to the charging port of dropping accidents and wear.

The first thing I noticed between the three cables is the magnetic attraction and construction of the black model seemed a bit better than the silver cables. Both work fine, protect ports from damage, frictional wear and separate tips are also available from this maker.
Black cable stays out with careful movement, the silver (my copies) do not & will become dedicated to charging on a table.

Hope this makes some decision easier and to switch to the breakaway style cables. EH

I would like to see a brand that offered more information i.e. oxyfree copper wire (the black cable is a bit thicker in its woven cover also)
