Simple and cost effective
This is an fairly easy to use tool free enclosure. You just slide the top off, place a 2.5 inch SATA drive in it and then slide the top back. May have to click it down if it is not positioned correctly. The separate read and write lights are a nice touch, it even includes a short USB cable. Throughput of course depends on the drive but with a 12 year old 7200RPM laptop drive I was getting ~120MBps which (on my newish system) is about as fast as my prebuilt USB drives of which I have an absurd number

Nicest clear enclosures for SSD drives I've used.We used to use Samsung's external SDD drives in the Archive. But Samsung changed their design in a way to make it hard to paper label their drives. Labeling is very important to us, as we can have 15 to 20 external drives floating around at any given time.

The ORICO 2.5'' Hard Drive Enclosure Type-C USB 3.1 Gen2 is simple to use. The top cover slides off. Drive pops in. slide cover back. If you have trouble getting the top to slide from fingers slipping, put on a set of thin rubber glove. Works great! We tried their ridge top clear case and didn't like it.
The enclosure comes with a couple of pieces of foam rubber to use as shims, if you are using thinner SDD drives. The foam will eventually break down, so be aware of that. But foam should last a few years.
SDD and HDD drives are used for temporary back up only. If it is digital and you want to preserve it...put it on M-Disc or high-quality Blu-ray disc. AZO DVD may last 15 - 25 years, if it is kept in the dark and cool. M-Disc DVD can last a year in the sun with no issues, whereas AZO DVD are dead after 3.5 weeks of sun. All Blu-ray discs are not the same. Some die within a few weeks of sun. Others can take a year of sun. But that is another review. This isn't guesswork, we maintain a large optical media library and everything we use gets torture stress tested before adopting it.

Good (and good looking!) budget enclosure!Drive enclosures are pretty simple so i don't have a whole lot to say, but this one has been good in my limited uses. I got it for a spare drive after I upgraded a project laptop to an SSD, and it's been great for that. The clear case is cool, allowing the drive to be seen while in use.

Speeds seem right for a SATA II 5400 RPM hard drive from 2010 over USB 3 as seen in the attached speed test from CrystalDiskMark.
Another plus is that this enclosure seems to pass SMART data for the attached drive, which is nice, I've had a few cheap enclosures that don't do that. Shared a screenshot to show the SMART data appears in CrystalDiskInfo.
Overall this is a good enclosure, especially for the price. I haven't had any issues with it dropping out or failing to work, but I've only used it for copying a few files and haven't slammed it with high usage so I can't be sure about stress load reliability.
Recommended if you're looking for a clear, cool looking, and budget enclosure!
