Holy crap, this works?!

So I do have to apologize to the maker of this product for the title and the reasoning behind it, but I literally bought this product expecting to return it because it didn't work. I didn't see it likely that a cord would have a plug-n-play firmware in that tiny little USB dongle, but to my surprise, I plugged it into my Windows 10 PC and immediately the PC recognized it. In fact, when I rebooted it (accidentally leaving the listen-to toggle on for the recording device), I heard the guitar through the computer before my PC even finished logging into the desktop.

I threw this puppy into Guitar Rig 5, and guess what, that worked too! This thing is worth every cent, especially given my last guitar-to-PC interface was some $80-120 a while back. My ONLY complaint, if anything, is that the USB portion feels light and "cheap," but that entirely aside, it works beautifully.

Seriously, I want to be clear that I was ready to be critical as heck about this, but as an IT guy and a guitarist, my mind is blown.
It's likely that anyone having issues with this product on Windows is simply dealing with a user-error, where they didn't know how to access their playback and recording devices. But if you DO know how to access them, and ensure that your PC is using your speakers rather than the USB dongle for playback, then you shouldn't have any issues with this.

9/10, would be 10/10 if the USB portion felt stronger. Also my Epiphone Les Paul approves as well lol

Instructions for Rocksmith on PC

Alright, i want to echo some comments and ratings, and correct some things. I got this working for rocksmith 2014 on my PC by following these steps
1) Look at cable, check the attachement at the male audio jack by removing slip cover. Make sure there is no short.
2) Plug into guitar
3) With computer on, plug into USB2.0 jack. This device is not compatible with USB3.0!
4) Your computer will download the driver, but it thinks the device is a speaker. So your audio might mute.
5) Through the sound settings, restore your speakers as primary speakers
6) In sound settings, change the USB device (this cord) to your microphone.
7) For me, the red light does not work.
8) Boot rocksmith
9) Tell rocksmith it is a microphone.

Ok so I have been super skeptical of plugging anything into my computer that comes out of my 100watt PEAVEY head, but I went ahead and tried it using the external port of the head. I am also kind of not that great with computers, but all I had to do was plug this thing in to the USB port on my laptop and into the back of the amp. From there I just had to right click on the sound settings where volume is located and click on "sounds" then "recording" to disable my computer's internal microphone. From there I set the device to be the microphone and it worked great with Audacity. It sounds super clear. The cord is long enough and it seems to be made good. I had nothing but a good experience with it. I love this thing! Totally worth the money and I wish I had thing this years ago! Also I thought I might point out that this will work with a guitar and no pedals or amp. Of course you won't have any effects unless you use a program. It also can be used like I said coming from the back of the amp and I was super scared about that not working. I suppose it also could be used with a guitar and effects pedals and no amp. And with keyboards. If you are trying to record you have to have this thing. I thought it was worth a shot to try it and I hope this helps some people figure out that it really works so that you guys can make some music!

it's really the best thing you can buy on Amazon for universality

I didn't give you 5 stars, because there are no directions as to what the requirements are to use the cord, and the description was misleading. It says that the cord is compatible with Rocksmith 2014, but it does not distinguish the difference between this cord and the official Rocksmith 2014 cord. First of all, the USB end of this cord is only compatible with USB 2.x, it's actually not compatible with USB 3.x. I almost tried to initiate a return, but thought maybe I should exhaust my options first. Second of all, Windows 10 will recognize it as a microphone, so once the cord is plugged into a USB 2.x port, Windows will automatically download and install the drivers and in Rocksmith 2014, you have to tell the game that you're using a microphone (yet it will be an isolated direct line from your guitar). If you've already plugged the plug into a USB 3.x port, it'll have a driver error and you'll have to uninstall the driver in Device Manager before you plug the cord back into a USB 2.x port. Now, this sort of problem solving and communication should be the responsibility of the company that produced the cord. I would have given this cord a 3 star rating, but this cord is actually right for direct recording in recording programs, so I'll consider that an infinitely beneficial bonus, and for the low cost, it's really the best thing you can buy on Amazon for universality.
