This is my favorite TV Series of all times. The characters are hilarious. The situations are completely unpredictable. The fastest 30 minutes in TV. Chip (Zach Galifianakis) couldn't be more pathetic, and thereby more endearing. If you think you've got problems...
Emmy for Zach!, please. His "performances" of twins sets a new high bar. I love this show. Certainly unpredictable, cleverly sardonic, and at times emotionally wrenching. Louis Anderson deserves another Emmy. Martha is brilliant as well, adding more to the mixed bag of unique characters. Many of the smaller parts are memorable and will most likely launch some new careers. I'm hoping for a third season at least.
Louie Anderson as Christine Baskets (the mother of the main character(s) both played as twins by Zach G) is freaking awesome! She is far and away my favorite character in a series that I've seen in a long, long time. I thought that him being an overweight, middle aged male actor dressed up as a woman was going to be a "gag" for humor- but instead Louie makes Christine seem very real, and somebody I'd want to know in real life too. The second season focuses more on her character and her struggles with her sometimes awful grown kids, her health, her mother and her shot at romance. If you're looking for laugh out loud funny- there are a few moments but that's not what the series is about. But if you like quirky characters played by actors who seem 100% into their role and a mix of absurdity, humor and really poignant moments as you learn a little more about each character with every episode.... than this is the show for you!
This show is brilliant. The choices for programming that offer pathos mixed with pratfalls are unsurprisingly extremely slim. This show delivers artfully and hysterically. Anderson and Galifianakis touch my heart and crack me up. Their chemistry is unmistakable. Anderson plays a strong but vulnerable mother better than anyone I've seen. I hope there will be a season 3 to follow.
Louie Anderson is FABULOUS!!! I bought the second season for Anderson's portrayal of a mother whose children don't appreciate her. the Christine character tries so hard to find joy in life. She finds it in little things and I feel happy when she does.
This is one of my favorite series on tV. I just wish there was more of it. Zach is amazing in his dual roles as twins with very different personalities. And Louie Anderson is so believable, I cry with her and feel her pain, but also become annoyed with her when he/she is unfair to Chip. More of this show, please!
