Materials are well-made and the stand is overall pretty sturdy, but some screws were missing from my package upon delivery (the four H-foot M5 screws). Still waiting to see if the company will send me replacements.
This is one of the best investments I've made! I've been filming videos that require the camera to be tilted down towards my table, and up until now I've been using standard tripods. It's been a long journey getting here, I just never wanted to spend the money, but as I was getting more involved in my videos, and the things I needed in reach have been steadily growing, it became inevitable. Long story short, I'm so happy I decided to spend the money on this! It is very well made, very solid, but not too heavy. It was easy to put together, and it's easy to move and customize the setup to how you need it, when you need it. The set up was very easy, well explained, and didn't require any tools. I had it ready in probably 30 minutes.
I did spend some time going through my own collection of items trying to further customize this to my needs. I rummaged through tripods and lighting gear finding various attachments I could use. I was able to attach my lighting to this, as well as rig an attachment to the side for a second angle to use in editing. Luckily, any 1/4" screw can be used to attach things to the top. It's also easy to move your camera to either side in just seconds, without fear of your camera falling. This set up does not have a release plate, you will need to unscrew it every time. I don't have a problem with this since my screen flips, and my battery and memory card are easily accessible while it's attached. The space you have to work is the best part! Everything is here now. I'm not cramped between two tripods, two umbrella lights, and everything else I need. I have just this, and I work comfortably under it. I set up my filming area, and if I find I need more room to one side, I simply slide the camera over!
My only real complaints is that I wish it can with a couple extra attachments. For instance, there is room on the sides to attach more items once you secure the crossbar. However, those holes are a different size than literally every else. It's slightly larger than the 1/4" size. It would've been nice to have extra screws that size for various items to be attached there. I also would've appreciated stronger/more durable clamps, the plastic ones feel like they will break at any moment. Since this was not the main part of the purchase (for me), and replacements are pretty inexpensive, it's not a huge deal, but a consideration if you plan to actually use them. Also, it would've been nice to see a friction arm. I know the listing clearly states they are not included, but I can say I would've really appreciated having at least one included since they are featured prominently in the listing photo.
This has been a real game changer for me, and worth every penny. I can't recommend this enough!
This mount was an excellent choice for me. I create videos were I have to record myself drawing. This mount fits perfectly on my desk. I mount my camera or phone to it and record. The stand is sturdy and it can hold my phone and also it can hold my heavy Nikon D850 camera which with the lens weighs about 7 pounds. Very happy with this Glide Gear OH100 overhead mount.

If you need to produce high quality overhead video tutorials or take professional product branding photos/videos; this is the product you need to purchase. A simple and affordable solution that is strong and well built for reliability and ease of use for a plethora of imaging applications. It’s the perfect size for most tabletops but has a good range of adjustability. If you want some hands free shots that look pro - get this rig. It will take your work to the next level without breaking the bank.
Surprisingly lightweight for metal frame, the camera shot looks much better than using a clamp mount. Good for playing tabletop games over webcam or content creation. It might be hard to screw some of the nuts into the bolts if you have larger fingers because you have to do it inside the beam. Also, the pictures of the parts in the instruction manual do not match what they actually look like so it might be confusing. But if you match the parts up by quantity, you should be able to identify them. Besides some difficulty during building, the finished product is great so far.
I was looking for a sturdy, overhead rig for creating top-down tutorial videos. I needed something more stable than a boom tripod but take up less space than a duel tripod joined by a beam solution. The Glide Gear OH100 fit my needs and I purchased it after some pricing soul-searching as this product goes a bit beyond the usual photo & video extortion. Once it arrived however, some of my initial sticker shock melted away. First off, the packaging of the product was very well done and all the pieces arrived without any damage or scratches. Assembly was a breeze and the included instructions were well-written and complete. Functionally, it works as advertised and fits nicely on my tabletop. It is stable enough to hold my lights and SLR without any issues. I would appreciate another 4" - 6" in height but if needed, I can easily create an extension as there are already extra holes in the base that could be used to mount to a 4x4 or some other platform. The fit, finish, and stability of everything is excellent with perhaps the exception of an included phone holder which seems a bit cheap and plasticky. .. but to be honest, the original description didn't mention anything about a cell phone holder or the 2 L-brackets and clamps that can be used as a makeshift background holder so it's all a bonus to me. Quite frankly, I don't think the company's product photos do the OH100 justice as it looks and feels much better than I expected based on the product's marketing images & descriptions. Yes, I still feel it is pricy but if I had to purchase it again, I'd do it without hesitation.
I had been looking for some sort of desktop cradle for my DSLR for taking pictures of rare books at a 90 degree angle, where scanning is not really an option. Surprisingly, there are actually not a lot of options for this, other than building your own custom rig, which I did not really want to do. This thing is built sturdy and very functional. You can tell they actually put some thought into it when designing.
The booklet with assembly instructions seems out of date, just a point to be aware of. They have clearly swapped out a few things, like the clips are plastic and not metal as shown in the assembly book. They have also opted to have slightly different parts that do seem like an upgrade over what is pictured in the manual. There are also two pre-assembled pieces that looks like were not in a previous iteration of the product. You might be a bit confused as you look through, but it is all still close enough and very easy to figure out, so this wasn't much of an issue. The whole thing took me minutes to put together.
They only thing I would like to see included in the package are something like long mounting screws that pass through the top bar that then might have a nut on either side to keep them from slipping. Mounting certain devices can be challenging if you wanted to do it on the top part of the bar and they do not have a mounting screw that is double-sided (you can easily screw in a standard 1/4" mounting screw to the top bar). There are the arms that are included that can work for this, but they stick out and you may not want that if you are affixing something like various lighting. The sidebars are easier, since they are hollow and open-faced, so putting a mounting screw through at the standard 1/4" length is easy enough.
Honestly, not a lot of options like this on the market. The quality of materials, with the exception of the included clips, are very good. Highly recommend if you are looking for something like this and it fits your need. For me, I couldn't have asked for anything better. Looks like it will be great for teaching sessions where I need to flip through a book to show examples, as well.

Bought this after extensive research, as I was needing to photograph scores of painting and documents. After experimenting with tripods, boom arms and what-nots, I found this. It's absolutely perfect for most things I can imagine using, including stop frame animators. I particularly like the fact it's all thumbscrews and hand-knobs, so no spanners needed. At the end of the job, it all packs away nicely. Whilst it's not cheap, it's not bad, and the quality is very good. Def. worth having if you do a lot of overhead work. At full height, with a 28mm lens, I could almost fit A2 into the viewfinder. You could go even bigger if you just use it on two stools/tables and drop your subject matter down a foot or so. I'm glad I got this, it made the job so much easier.
This is a very well-made and sturdy, fully metal frame, which is perfect to use for an overhead shot of my work table. I use a Canon 90d with an 18-135mm lens attached, so the camera is quite big, but there is still plenty of space to work and the view the camera has of my table is about 12x18, which is perfect for my needs. I no longer have to think about the camera, I know it's perfectly positioned and ready to go. It was easy to put together in about 5 mins, and is an absolutely excellent product which is well worth the cost.
