I really loved this idea and can't understand why any other manufacturers are not making this item. It was perfect for my Mac Book Pro. Unfortunately, it is not made well. I knew when it arrived it probably wouldn't last too long, although the part that broke was not what I expected. It was pretty flimsy and the spring mechanism did not work great. I assumed it would be the spring that stopped working. To my surprise a couple of weeks ago I started noticing my laptop would not be charging when it was plugged in. I would wiggle the cable and it would start charging again. Today when I went to unplug it the usb-c connector actually separated from the wire and got stuck in my power adapter. Fortunately I was able to pull it out with a pair of pliers but that was the end of it. I really hope a better manufacturer starts to produce this, it's a good idea, this company just seems to make junk.

I’m back to buy more of these again. I tuck them in backpacks, briefcases, and travel kits. There’s nothing else like them!

I love retractable cables and USB-C is taking over. I love how they don’t get tied in knots and take up so little space.

I get full charging speed on my MacBook.

They’re a little tricky to retract sometimes — you don’t need to go all the way out to reel them back in, like some. Just go to the next click and release, usually.

These go great with the compact RavPower 61W GaN charger (B07TC53ZYD).

This was a great cable - until it broke. After just 3 months of occasional (once a week) use, the retracting mechanism broke and it will not longer coil up. The product and the seller (Hippo-Deals) are unreliable.

Update: ReTrak has a lifetime warranty and quickly replaced my cable. Kudos for customer service.

Looks and feels like a quality product. It's able to charge my Pixel 3 XL rapidly. Great for use with a portable USB-C charger with power delivery capability. The only caveat is that it is about 2x bigger than your typical retractable Micro-USB cable which was something I did not expect when looking at the photo. It is expensive but unfortunately it is the only retractable USB-C to USB-C cable on the market (as far as I know).

My Pixel phone demands a USB-C connection to charge, and for fast charging most power sources need the same connector on both ends. This cable has a heavy-duty feel and is a little bigger and less flexible than a few other retractables (micro USB, Apple lightning) I use, but it works just fine. Definitely more convenient for travel than a normal power cord. I get weird looks when I pull out my power supply with a bunch of retractable cables to connect to multiple devices (phones, ipad, headphones, etc.), but then people ask where to get the retractables.

Using it to charge a Pixel 3 in my car and the phone reports rapid charging. Be careful not to over extend it or it would break immediately.

Update: It's really fragile. Never full extend it because the slightest tug after that will break the retracting mechanism. Second one broke on me in less than a year.

I cannot stand tangled cables, and have replaced as many cables as I can (power, USB, network, etc) with retractables. As far as I can tell, these are the only ones that are USB-C to USB-C. Bizarre, but that appears to be the state as of 2019/12.

I ordered 6 of them over the last year, and the retraction mechanism on *ALL* them have failed in the same way. None of them retract anymore. Amazon US reviews confirm.

This product would be a waste of money at $5 each. They are not $5 each. Retrak has some serious gall charging premium money for this terrible product.

Buyer beware!

A great retractable USBC to USBC cable. Suitable for use with new IPad Pro and MacBook Pro and between these. Takes up minimal space and doesn’t tangle.

Ordered this to charge my 15" MacBook Pro at work, as it’s a hot-desking office and I wanted to save space in my bag.

The first one stopped working in less than a week of use being plugged & unplugged 2–3×/day. While trying all 4 ports on my MBP the metal connector pulled right out of the plastic housing.

Returned it, received a prompt replacement, but that lasted 1 day after about 3 plug/unplug cycles.
