Nice SATA III to USB 3.0 adapter
UPDATE (2020/08/30):Now that the Raspberry Pi 4B has USB booting enabled (and the new Raspberry Pi OS 2020-08-20 images have been released) this "blue" version of the Eluteng is definitely the one to go with. The Pi 4B is completely new hardware with a very different booting system, and this Eluteng "blue" adapter cable really shines with the 4B and its USB 3.0 capability. However, there has been a report from someone claiming to receive one with a JMicron bridge chip (instead of ASMedia). I have not been able to personally confirm this, but it's something I think we need to be aware of and watch out for, because JMicron based adapters have been problematic on the Raspberry Pi 4B.UPDATE (2020/03/03):The new model of this adapter with the blue SATA connector doesn't work as well for USB booting a Raspberry Pi. Compatibility is good, but not as good as the old one, and I did have some boot failures, although they were few and far between. At first I didn't recommend the newer model for use with a Raspberry Pi, but after more time and testing I am going to recommend it again. In terms of absolute reliability and wide compatibility with different drive types, the older model is better, but the newer model with the blue SATA connector is still very good. Also, this newer "blue" model supports TRIM over USB, while the older model needs a firmware update (which is difficult to find). TRIM doesn't matter if you are using it with a hard drive, but for SSD you do want TRIM support to maintain SSD performance and increase longevity. This newer model with the blue SATA connector works great on my Windows 10 and Linux PC for disk cloning or transferring data, and is even a bit faster than the old model. A must have for any computer geek's toolbox.Original review (old model with black SATA connector):This has been working well for me on a variety of computers, including USB boot from an SSD on a Raspberry Pi3B. Tested on the USB 3.0 ports of my gaming laptop under Windows 10 and Debian Linux, and on the USB 2.0 ports of a Raspberry Pi3B(+) under Raspbian Linux. Works without any additional drivers.Read/write speeds are about what I would expect from a SATA drive on USB 3.0, so performance seems good. UASP is supported with compatible drive and OS. No complaints, and very happy with it, especially for the price.I also have the Sabrent USB 3.0 to SSD / 2.5-Inch SATA Hard Drive Adapter which has a longer cable, but for use with my laptop I prefer the short cable. If you want a longer cable the Sabrent is excellent as well.

I have a ton of SSD's that are constantly being swapped (video business). I needed to replace my old ones, which were the "Startech" kind. They were flimsy, and so I was afraid this one was also going to be like this. But, this one is great.
I really like it because the cord isn't as flexible around the connectors. The previous ones kept bending, and that is why the connection would not work any longer.
This particular one's cord seems to be a bit thicker and stronger than the other kinds we have. I am sure it will last at least the 3 years the old ones lasted, but be more reliable. That is, I didn't have to worry about the connection cutting out like the old one did without any warning. That was frustrating and kept making me think was the drive and not the wire.
I wish I had purchased this kind back then, because this one for me seems to work better than the other kinds.

I used this SATA adapter to install a Western Digital Blue SSD on a Raspberry Pi 4, using one of the USB 3.0 ports on the Pi, so I could boot the Pi from the SSD instead of the micro SD card.. There are other things you have to do in the Raspberry Pi software to make this work, but from a hardware point of view, this SATA adapter worked just fine, without any errors. The Pi boots and runs dramatically faster from the SSD, making it a viable low-end desktop replacement. You can only use this adapter for 2.5" drives (the connector won't fit larger drives), and the drive must use 5 volts only (older drives that also need 12 volts will not work).

Unfortunately this one works on only on USB 2.0 but fails in the USB 3.0 ports of the Raspberry PI 4 8 GB model.

I saw other reviews saying that the older version did work OK but the new one, with the square USB connector is failing to boot. Unfortunately I did not test immediately and now the return window is closed. Wasted time and money.

There are a lot of adapter cables that support UASP, but I needed this for a Raspberry Pi 4 to boot from an SSD on USB 3. The Pi 4 is incredibly picky about the chipsets it will recognize for boot via USB 3 with UASP support enabled.

This adapter worked perfectly the fist time. No issues whatsoever and about a 40% increase in speed over “block” mode used by my previous cable. And this one was less expensive and came with an A to C adapter.

Overall I couldn’t be more please. Fantastic product at a fair price and shipped next day. I will absolutely purchase more as the need arises.

Feels solid and well made and works great with all windows filesystems, but with linux and an ext4 partition on an SSD it'll disconnect regularly (a few minutes), at least with my system, a mini-PC. I use it for backups and it reconnects quickly and the backups get made OK, but it's a bit of a pain (so 4/5 in 'Ease of use'). I've seen this is an issue (ext4 on SSD) with other adapters, so if you want to use ext4 and leave it on a lot, check out powered adapters.
