I was getting some noise in the picture with my RetroTink-2X when powering it using USB from my TV. I switched to one of these and it cleared everything up perfectly. Just goes to show you, it pays to have a clean power supply as power from any old USB source might have a lot of noise in it. The adapter seem to be of good quality and the switch is really nice.
It provides the necessary power for the power hungry Pi 3 B+. Having a switch on the wire near the Pi side, so I don't have the reach the wall outlet that's tricky to reach, when I need to power on the device (post shutdown) or plug in/out safely without having power still running through, is absolutely great!
We utilized Raspberry Pi systems in our automated test systems. While working on a project it came to my attention that the existing 2A power supply was insufficient for the power requirements for the project. Our system includes a 7" Touchscreen and several USB peripherals drawing power from the USB port of the Pi. This 3A supply provides more than enough current to our test systems.
My venerable Pi 2 is a steam locomotive that just keeps chuggin', unlike the power supply I originally purchased for it.
As soon as I started seeing the dreaded under-voltage entries in syslog it was clear I needed a new power supply. I ordered this power adapter, it showed up quickly, and I haven't seen an under-voltage message, or random reboot since.
Added bonus, the power switch is actually kinda handy.
I tried running my Raspberry Pi 3 B plus with a standard cell phone charger. While this did work, I constantly had the low power light coming on and the device was not functioning as well as it could.
Since getting this charger, I have not seen the low power light once, even though I am now overclocking the device and running a fan off of the gpio PIN. Thurs is a must-have Pi accessory.
While the above is enough to make it worth the price, the fact that it adds the the functionality of an on-off switch to the Raspberry Pi makes this device a no-brainer.
After purchasing several different power supplies for my raspberry pi 3b+ I finally found one that doesn’t give me the yellow thunderbolt! It has a thicker cord then the others I have purchased and seems to have a sturdy on/off switch too. It’s nice that the switch also has an led indicator to tell you it’s on. All around great buy.
