Loved it. A great documentary going through the lives of many who defined a big part of last decades music. From the rise of hip hop to how the music industry evolved. You will discover how influential Jimmy Iovine & Dr. Dre were and how they produced so many popular artists. The documentary goes into the big music trends but also the personal stories of the protagonists and how it influenced their business choices. So many artists I love exists thanks to these 2, a very inspiring documentary.
The documentary is absolutely everything. The best hip hop documentary I've ever seen and most likely there won't be any better after. The 3rd part was the most emotional one, left me little confused about who I was idealizing my whole life...It did open my eyes and my mind. This story explains everything, takes you from the very beginning to the end. These two men are genial. Master minds at their best. They both had made mistakes in their life but were mature enough to learn from them and become better people. I have so much respect for both of them! Very motivational and very informative documentary. I don't just recommend, I say it is a must to see.
The best documentary I have ever watched. I love how Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre's stories run parallel throughout and then come together when Interscope partners with Death Row in the 90's. Both men are pure genius and truly some of the best in the music industry! I love the history, the music, the artists, the marketing - all aspects of this documentary are fascinating. I learned so much and will probably watch again it's that good! If you love music, history, or both, you will not be disappointed.
Great!!!!! I like the way they are telling both their story side by side. Gave a better understanding of the music industrial. Main thing out of it was to never give up and being different is the best way to be. Both are great men and still have some great ideas to bring to the table. I do not believe music is a young minds, but music is a artist that change with the time but to not get lost in lowering his or her standers. I miss the old music.
As an old school Dr. Dre fan since I first listened to N.W.A as a 14 year old back in 1988, I highly recommend this film. This documentary not gives you the history of Dre that you thought you already knew, it's gives you a history lesson about all of the things that you didn't know. I will admit that I didn't know much about Jimmy Iovine before I watched this, but after viewing this masterpiece I have become a fan of his as well. If you are a fan of Dr. Dre and/or N.W.A or just a hip hop fan in general this is a MUST WATCH.
Watched all back to back. Awesome new content in a story I have followed since I got a friend to buy me Eazy-E's tape because I was 12 years old. New, fresh insight into a story told many times. Highly recommend, even if you think you know, totally worth it!
I have never heard about Jimmy Iovine before and this was a good introduction of both him and his contribution. I enjoyed every part of this documentary but the one thing that bothered me was scenes where you overrun two interviews together but the video still looks muted.
