Just as in ALONE proper, ten hardcore survivalists will be dropped into the unforgiving wilderness of the pacific northwest - but that is where the similarities end. These ten participants are comprised of 5 competing teams; brothers, fathers and daughters, and best friends who all have unbreakable bonds.
I gave you my money so that I could watch new episodes of Alone the day after they air. It's the day after, at the time I usually watch, and the new episode is nowhere to be seen. Can you please post this episode so that I actually get what I paid for?
Super frustrated that no one can watch episode eight yet. So, I did the next best thing, I did a live chat with amazon. They said it could be 24-72 hours before its released for viewing, well were thirty minutes away from the 72 hour mark lets see if it happens. In the mean time the representative was kind enough to offer a partial credit to my account for the delay, I just hope we get the rest of the season. So let's all do live chats and get some grease on that squeaky wheel!
Instead of picking candidates purely based off skill, Start picking them based off heart. The first two groups quit literally immediately and for literally no reason other than "we don't feel like being here". What a waste of a slot for someone who could have been serious about it. If you are that terrified of encountering animals, mountain hiking, and bushcraft them YOU SHOULDNT VOLUNTEER FOR THE SHOW. The second guy Logan was really an embarrassment. His Army father was so proud of him and felt great about the experience(as a former soldier and father I know how he feeling) and yet this spoiled kid gives up and then with his hands in pockets literally cant even look his dad in the eye. He had no actual reason to quit, he just quit because he is mentally weak. And he'll have to live with that the rest of his life, but you can tell he doesn't care. Not only was he a lazy quitter but he gave his 40 something year old dad the hike while he started out the start point. Compare that to Sam who hiked for 9 days to get his older father and did what a son should do. People like Logan shouldnt even be allowed to go on shows like this. I do not care if they drop you off on a mountain in Siberia. My father is no longer alive, but if he was and we were able to go back in time and compete in something like Alone I could never look that man in the face if I quit because he was a Vietnam vet Marine who grew up working on a farm and would never quit anything in his life. He was a hard, angry, stubborn SOB and he raised all of his kids to never quit.
Chris was also full of it. He tried to blame quitting on his family when he had only been gone 2 weeks. Ask this guy if he could handle going on a YEAR long deployment. That's 52 weeks without seeing your family Chris. Thats what the average soldier has had to do for the past 17 years of this war. Suck it up. Your a grown man who can't be away from his family for 2 weeks, and made your brother quit with you. Your a quitter too. I've noticed a hilarious trend watching season 4 of Alone. It seems like whoever DIDN'T have to hike their butt over mountains for 10 miles is an easy quitter and always wants to leave, but whoever was hiking was more willing to stay because they put the time in and didn't want to waste it. Chris's selfish decision ruined the sacrifice hike his brother had to make. Chris made me more angry than anyone else on this show. If you aren't willing to do the time, then do not volunteer. Give that slot to someone else. I am sure your daughters are going to grow up knowing that you quit, and would have been more proud had you stayed.
Secondly, This was easily the worst season because of the group thing, they should have let the other person stay in if their partner quit so that way the quitter could see their partner go at the 500,000 alone while the non quitting teams got to do it together. That would have been 10x better than making both groups quit immediately. Also 10 miles is way too far of a distance on Vancouver Island, doing 5-7 miles would have been much better base off the brush and density the 10 miles was FAR too ambitious for the producers and they didnt realize that people would quit before they even met up, making the whole "lost and found tag team" gimmick barely part of the season. Either shorten the distance between the two people or get rid of the idea completely. And stop choosing these youtube bushcraft masters who are afraid of a little rain or a bear sighting. This is stuff park rangers and fish and wildlife do every single day and yet you guys choose people who quit that early. By far the hardest group of people were those from Season 3, they should give classes to the following seasons on heart, willpower, and determination. Instead of doing "survival classes" before the show have some classes on those.
As in previous seasons, the big challenge for the producers is finding people who won't tap out quickly. This time, they had to find two-person teams that could make it. Teams make it a different experience, but there are more ways to fail. They lost four of seven teams in the first two weeks. I hope the producers go back to the solo model for Season 5.
I actually really like the show, event with this season having a bit of a twist. However, when I pre Pay for the season I expect to see it as soon as it is possible. I really don't know holding up the posting of the most recent episode, but is sure is frustrating when i can watch the free bootleg version days before the paid for version shows up.
