Product Description
The advent of throwlines has changed the way arborists climb trees. The BIG SHOT changed the way we use throwlines by giving you a simple, accurate, effective means to hurl your throw weight to new heights. The BIG SHOT accepts a wide range of projectiles and provides fully variable thrust force to limit over-shooting of low to mid-range targets. It's simple . if you have a lower target, just don't pull back as far! The BIG SHOT also solves one of the most significant difficulties of hand tossing throw weights-vertical targets with narrow approaches. With minimal practice, you'll be able to hit high targets through a small frame of branches and twigs. The BIG SHOT is an accurate and lightweight launching system! The launch pouch cuts in-air projectile rotation by 50% over the original BIG SHOT pouch! (This advance is also available as a sling replacement for older models. ) If you're looking to thread the needle through the thickest of canopies or launch throw weights up to 150 vertical feet, reach for the tool arborists around the world call for by name.

One update after a year of use- I recommend the optional trigger system for improved accuracy, allowing users to better control, both with the aim and distance the projectile will travel. Unfortunately, the split 4-foot long poles in this kit greatly limit trigger placement, so I suggest one solid 8-foot pole, to allow the trigger to be mounted where desired. Most tree service suppliers offer the solid 8-foot poles. I also recommend buying a spare pouch and band long before you suddenly need to replace it! Safety First- wear your hard hat!
I rigged my BigShot, to maximize throw height and accuracy, by adding a ratchet strap to pull both down slingshot basket and hold basket when under tension, and added an archery release to release when I am ready to release. This is easier, safer, and more accurate than trying to do manually. With this infrastructure you can throw weight much higher than by your pull alone.
To add ratchet strap, I drilled small hole in plastic cap base of BigShot which accommodates the plastic hook end of my ratchet strap.
To add the bow release, I got the TruFire Patriot Archery Compound Bow Release (also sold on Amazon). Being efficient (lazy), I did not modify bow release at all, I just made short paracord loop to attach to other end of ratchet strap.
The item is built well and very sturdy.
I was able to start hitting my targets within one or two practice attempts.
I can see the slingshot bands decaying under UV light so store the slingshot assembly out of direct sunlight, in a cool dry place.
Separately I purchased throwing line and a 12 oz weight (no thrower or rope is included)... The 12 oz weight is a little much, so I recommend a 10oz which is still enough to get a line over a tree, while having the weight to allow the line to fall back to the ground.
Overall, I am happy with this item and will get good use out of it.
I think it's possible, but perhaps for larger bodied people who just have more mass (I am trained to rig safety gear and I DO trim my own trees...) But this "line rigging aid" just didn't help me. Lol. Guess I have to keep tossing my weight and pull line by hand (no problem! - I have better success that way).
ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES! AND EVEN A HELMET WHEN USING! The weight you use with this product can easily hurt you!

I usually don't like buying arborist stuff off here but this one unit I'd recommend.
I wish it was a little cheaper but what it costs is well worth the time saved from climbing around in a oil field plant and the ensuing frustration.
