I visited a nutritionist who told me I have a high metabolism. I eat mostly a vegan diet and I have half a thyroid. I do stairmaster while I work so I get 5k steps a day. I recently invested in a Fitbit and am sleeping 8 hrs a night. I learned through this scale I’m like 6 pounds overweight but only 20% body fat and considered athletic and my metabolic age is 2 years older than my actual age. I lack subcutaneous fat so my body eats muscle but it’s okay because I’m kind of solid. But I need to eat protein. Not animal protein - just protein. All this is consistent with my doctor’s assessment. It also gives me confidence and encourages healthy habits bc I’m not tied to one number but several and those are great indicators of health also. The app is way easy and the scale is tiny. I love that I now know I’m hydrated and I love how the app beeps when it has read my daily measurement. I have a history of hypothyroid shock where my body wasn’t absorbing calcium and I’m over 40 so finding out my bone density is excellent was really wonderful for me. I don’t do dairy and I have exceptional bone mass. I had an x-Ray a year ago and the doctor commented on my bone density as a good thing too, so I know that’s an accurate reading. Knowing that I don’t carry fat in my organs or skin is a cool tidbit of info too since heart disease runs in my family & I feel more taut knowing the facts. Feelings are so subjective and women are bombarded with shoulds so I think every woman should face head on the facts about her body and get this scale so she knows the powerhouse she actually is. Guys too. Information is power! And I know I can shave off a mere 6 pounds, but that it’ll be a combination of muscle and fat and that’s okay as long as my ratio holds steady. This gives me confidence to do a bit of fasting in a healthy way! I went through a period of avoiding the scale and now I realize I did that because it wasn’t telling me anything helpful - nothing I could use to help guide my decisions and be a healthier human. With this scale I know I don’t really need to drink a gallon of water a day to be hydrated; I see the amazing effects of my workouts although only 5k steps and not the 10k “they recommend” which means I’m achieving my goals happily; six lbs seems so easy and almost irrelevant- still important and achievable but knowing I am healthy makes me want to be healthy - if that makes sense. Knowing I’m an “athlete” makes me grab the apple and not be guilty about the chicken before bed. I feel stronger and make stronger decisions. See so much of our habits start with the mind - and if you’re a rational person, seeing health facts will encourage habits. I think one of the best parts about this scale is how affordable it is. We all can have one. Own it sister/brother!
