Product Description
The Dyson Pure Cool™ purifying tower fan, is the only purifying fan to clean a whole room properly. We design our purifying fans to go beyond test chamber conditions and focus on real home conditions - this is more than just having an efficient filter.1 Dyson engineers and research concluded that to clean an entire room properly, you need to sense pollution events automatically; capture ultrafine pollutants; and project cleaner air around the room using Air Multiplier technology. Only the Dyson purifying fan is designed and tested to do all of this.2

PROS
(1) The air quality for me to breathe in the room has increased tremendously. I cannot express the relief I have had. I had a small hepa filer for years but still I had allergy and dust irritations with it. Not so with the Dyson TP04. I keep watch on the graphics and act accordingly to keep the VOCs and particles to 0.
(2) The night mode will make it quiet and bring the fan speed down to 1 to 4 speed, which is adequate unless your room is very hot. Click it on or off and you can tell the difference.
(3) The app is grand central for all needs. I love it and use it exclusively.
CONS - what I don't like about it
(1) It is a bit heavy and large. I had hoped to be able to move it periodically to other rooms as needed, but it is not easily moved for an older lady. You have to pick it up from the base and move it. You are NOT supposed to lift it from the big oval fan.
(2) The remote is a great idea but I use the app on my phone by the bed instead. The remote itself is magnetic and sticks to the top of the fan. I read that parts of the purifier are also magnetic. So be careful if magnets are an issue with you. Read the manual or call CS with questions. And don't put the remote close to your phones.
(3) Not really a thing, but the Auto setting that is supposed to filter the air as needed, I find does not keep my quotients as low as I want them to be. However, the quotients are definitely on the lower end.
I recommend this for anyone with strong allergies or chemical sensitivities (like cleaning supplies). It has been a tremendous help to the air quality in that room, and therefore my breathing.
The app is also a sophisticated remote control that lets you set up schedule and customize its rotation precisely. It's also dramatically quieter than my other fans, given its performance, and it has 10 levels of fan speed. This lets it step down enough at night so that you can sleep in a very light breeze and not wake up feeling like you've been sanded down.
So now that the backstory is out of the way. There were already pretty lofty expectations for this, since like I said I already have another Dyson machine, and give the price tag for this as well. First impressions were pretty good, it was a real nice surprise to see how the vents are located and such.
Then the linking of the machine to the app completely stopped me. There was some issue where they would not link, even after multiple soft resets of the machine and deleting the app, restarting my phone, and then reinstalling it. I was in a chat with customer service after this went on for like 4 hours, and then of course it suddenly recognized and worked after about 30 minutes of troubleshooting with them. I do want to be clear here though, yes it was frustrating that I couldn't use my phone but the machine was still functioning I just had to use the factory remote.
Since then literally 0 problems. App works fine and the filters still going strong. I use it to cool my living room which has cathedral ceilings and a loft and my kitchen I'd say it's about 800-1000 sf. Having been living and working and existing in my home this whole time I think it's wonderful. Sleep mode makes it super quiet and you can set a schedule as well. I leave it on auto all day except when it tries to turn itself up because the AQI went up and it's blowing out the back. When that happens I really feel like it's overworking the machine to be at full power blowing out the back like that all the time, so sometimes I'll turn it down to like 2 or 1 and then swap the air to th front and turn on the pivot. You can do all that on your phone as well. So it's getting two stars in the "easy to use" category for almost having to return the machine over software issues, everything else including overall rating is 5 stars though. Lovely machine.
