I got the waterpik WP-100W and used it regularly. Between that and my other regimen it changed my life. It was getting a little long in the tooth and I have hard water so I looked for a replacement/spare. I decided on the aquarius.
There were a few features that I liked about it. It was quieter, although less powerful. I didn't mind that because I use my old one on setting 3, I don't think it's necessary to blast ones gums to get them clean and in my case it's harmful. The new one gave me the same feel at about setting 7 or 8.
It was also prettier and the lid was simple. I actually leave the lid off of my wp100 though so that's just a small thing.
The biggest issue was the swivel tip. I could not easily manipulate it. I find the swivel tip a lot easier than twisting the hard tubing. The Aquarius also seems cheaply made.
So I returned it and ordered another WP-100W before they quit making them. I ordered a spare handle/hose as well. Yes it's a little noisy but I really can't do without it. I don't consider the waterpik (of any brand) a replacement for flossing as much as an addition to my dental hygiene regimen.
I use my waterpik at least once a day, sometimes two. My final routine before bed is brush, floss, brush again with super soft brush, then waterpik. All of my toothbrushes are pretty soft but I like a second brushing with the extra soft one to gently stimulate my gums. I then empty it and suck the water out with the basin off. I've never had problems with mold. I have a very small bathroom but I make room on my sink for my waterpik. I just leave the lid off. I have a little shot glass that the piks and my floss sticks are stored. I've never actually replaced the pic, it's hard plastic and a swish in some bleach or mouthwash will disinfect it.
I have had problems with hard water but recently discovered something new. I have something called "star san" that is used to clean brewing equipment. I use it to clean my camelbak bladders and water bottles. I recently used it in my old waterpic and I'll be darned if it didn't get rid of the hard water build up!! It's very concentrated so you must dilute it and its very acidic and corrosive. I don't recommend doing this on a regular basis but It worked great getting rid of the hard water deposits that was not only unsightly but made it hard to swivel the tip to get where I wanted the jet to go. It also makes the pic super shiny like new.
I will never be without a dental irrigator. My teeth are close together and even though I brush and floss it didn't solve all of my gum issues. Now my breath is fresh and I never have sore gums. I used to get cleanings at the dentist 4 times a year but now I go 3 times a year and they've commented on how much better my gums are. I could probably cut down to two times a year but dental cleanings are cheap insurance against worse problems, I like my mouth to be clean. I used to be able to tell when it was time for my cleanings because I would start having bad breath and gum soreness but that's not a problem anymore.
It's awesome not only to not have sore gums but to not be self conscious about bad breath. I don't even have morning breath anymore! Flossing with string is still important, the waterpik and floss complement each other, they aren't a replacement for the other.
-I got the purple one and it’s sooo beautiful
- it is super easy to use ( instructions are very clear)
- makes my teeth feel squeaky clean
- takes little to no time to use
- comes with many different attachments ( some the same attachment in different colors and other ones for different cleaning purposes) so my fiancé and I can both use it
- massages the gums
- teeth are sooo smooth after use
-makes it way easier to clean all surfaces of the tooth in trickier places like back molars and behind the front teeth.
- nice compact size not taking up too much room on the counter ( we have a double sink though so maybe a single it would be a tighter fit)
I only gave it 3 stars on traveling because I can’t imagine myself wanting to pack this to travel( as much as I love this thing...) but if I needed to it is very lightweight- just maybe a little bulky for travel?
Lastly, I I have tried flossing after using the pik and a several times I have come back with empty floss while other times I had just a few very small things still turn up ( sorry if this is gross). Not sure that the pik is intended to replace flossing but 8.5/10 times my teeth are completely clean and everything is smooth and comfortable after using it! I would recommend this for sure and I’m really happy I purchased it.
It takes a few uses to get down the process, and figure out the angles, because you need to have your face in the sink to let the water out. I keep my mouth mostly closed and let water out when necessary. It works great.
NOTE: I have a very small mouth and my teeth are crowded. For me, the waterpik does not replace regular flossing, so I do both. It has made a difference in rinsing out all the built up crap that sticks to teeth.
ANOTHER NOTE: To the reviewers that complained about "splashing" and such. Oh SHEESH. It is a machine that shoots water into your mouth through a narrow tube. YES, you are going to experience a certain degree of water droplets on bathroom sinks. Please grow up and realize how ridiculous your complaints are. Anybody who thought they could stand up and gaze at themselves in the mirror while water-pik-ing is a poop head and shouldn't be writing reviews. Those dumb reviews focus on lack of intelligence, and not the product itself. These people would buy a table saw, and cut their thumb off on it, then write a bad review on the table saw.
Thanks for reading my rant on poop heads.
