But back to these lights, they are outstanding, the halo is very well lit, they are very easy to see in day or night, the halo turn signal is really very cool. The install on my 2003 required me to keep the retaining ring and reuse, I changed out my stock chrome Bezels for black ones and painted the original retaining rings black. The ACC wire was a little work, I found a good and easy location under my steering column and it was the Brown and Orange wire, you can look it up online to find a ACC wire color code for your year and model. Once you get these installed and working its worth all the trouble, I believe they change the look drastically and will definitely draw some attention.
And so here goes....Come on Xprite, write up some thorough instructions with detailed pictures and save the next buyer some time. The little half sheet "diagram" is almost useless. The comment that these can be installed in 20 minutes only tells me that person is not doing a good job. That's about it for the bad news.
Good news. The headlights are high quality and well made. The added electrical components are okay and do the job. The headlights are a perfect fit for the Wrangler (I have a 2012). If you don't change the adjustment setting you might even get by without having them aligned though it might not be a bad idea to have that done anyway. The halo DRLs (daylight running lights) are outstanding and I got a hoot out of the halo when it turned amber and blinked in sync with the normal turn signals. Now after 3 hours of tweaking the install, I am totally and completely satisfied with the lights. Well done Cree and Xprite.
Tips for the average installer or perhaps folk new to installing anything requiring a wrench, (which isn’t needed on this install).
Number t15 Torx driver, small flat screw driver, Electrical tape, ratchet and metric sockets, Ohm meter, three snap wire connectors of your choice, two for the yellow wire connections and one for the red wires at the lead from the fuse box.
1) The red and yellow wires (Battery/acc) and turn signal connections, are very small gauge wire 20 or 22. Thin stuff. However, not to worry, the LED lights require very little wattage to operate and so while these wires look like string to you, they work fine. Just don’t tug too hard on them, you can break the stranded wire inside the plastic cover and then they won’t work and you’ll struggle for days trying to find the problem. After hooking up the DRL wires, I used an ohm meter to make sure I had good connections and no “opens” (broken wire) in my lines.
2) The two sets of added wiring for each light has the correct connectors for your Jeep but, they are not crafted exactly like the OE connectors on the Jeep so once you have them pushed together with little or no gap, use some good quality stretchy electrical tape and seal the area between the each set of plugs so you don’t get water and dirt between the connectors.
3) You might be tempted, like I was, to cut or disconnect the wire in the turn signal harness that sends the “blink” charge to your original turn signals . This is because your new halo turns amber and blinks for you and you don’t need two blinkers going at the same time. It is additionally odd because the halo is LED with a sharp on and off blink where the original turn signals are incandescent bulbs that by comparison glow brighter and then dim slowly when they go out. Something you might never notice until you have an LED blinking alongside the original bulbs. Well, don’t cut that wire. The reason is that the halos only work when the engine is running or the key is in the run position. If you leave the 4-way flashers on with the engine off, (we all do this from time to time) the halo lights will not flash so you need the original turn signals to be working or you have no warning to others from the front of your vehicle.
4) You can buy LCD bulbs to replace the original turn signal bulbs but be aware that these cars measure watts in 1000/s of a watt and replacing the front bulbs with LCDs make cause you problems with your flasher.
5) If you are looking for a hot lead for the DRLs try M7 in your under the hood fuse box. It’s hot with the key on and dead with the key off. Perfect for the DRLs. You can find and identify M7 with the schematic under the inside of the fuse box lid. I drilled a 1/8 inch hole in the side of the fuse box and used 14 gauge wire (perfect fit) from M7 toward the passenger side of the box and then turned to run it toward the front of the box and out the hole I drilled there. You will have to remove the top of the air cleaner box for access. Then I ran the wire to a point behind the radiator support near the passenger side headlight where I connected the two red wires for the DRLs.
6) Of the three wires going into the turn signal bulb one is black, don’t use, the middle wire is for marker lighting, (we used to call them “running” or “parking” lights). The wire on the other side (from the black) is the “blink” power line. I used a crimp connector to connect the yellow wire to the blink line; some will say this is a shortcut I don't disagree but It works. Wrap the connectors in electrical tape.
7) You will have to work to get all that wiring and additional plugs back in the area behind the headlights. It’s not too bad on the Driver’s side but there is little room to work on the passenger’s side. Still it will all fit.
8) You most remove the grille to get access but that’s very easy to do and has already been addressed here in the questions section.
9) Glad to help if anyone needs help with a jeep.

However I thought rather then go for those cheap copies I'd get the real deal instead. However these lights seem to have the actual optics all around the wrong way. As I turned them on it was totally fine and all of the correct leds were working for the low beam. However when you throw on the high beam they lit up the road closer to thge car instead of further away like high beams are supposed to do. They were wired in all correctly as it is just a plug in job and the were up the right way as in my wife's Jeep they can only go one way up and they are the same way as every single picture around.
Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend these lights to anyone who values actual quality for the good money you pay for them.
Maybe I'll try the "cheap" ones. They may actually be better then the supposed "real deal"
