I've taken Tru Niagen for over a year and...

I take can't tell if it's doing anything.

I don't feel any effect whatsoever. I take 500 mg a day now (so twice as much as the bottle recommends), but I did go a few months taking a 1000 mg (1 gram) which was expensive, and I couldn't tell anything on that dose either. If I were younger than 50 I'd probably hold off on spending the money on this right now. I'd wait for further research as to whether or not it's effective in humans.

There seems to be some controversy over whether or not NR, the ingredient in Tru Niagen, can even be absorb by the individual cells. There is some debate whether or not it even makes it out of the liver. So, this is kind of an expensive proposition if it's not effective.

For me, I'm older, and can afford it, so I'll probably continue to take it, since I can't wait a decade or more for the research results to come in. I hope it does what it says it does, but honestly I don't think so. If it really did what they said NR did in the lab mice, I think I would feel something, or notice some change by now. But after a year, nothing.

As far as I can tell this product did nothing to help with my energy level or anything else. There was no noticeable effect, even taking as many as six capsules per day. It is very expensive and did nothing. Very disappointed in this product, to say the least. My mom tried it too and got nothing from it.

To any of the people on here complaining that it doesn't work: you can't eat garbage food and expect this to make you feel better. You should be exercising, eating properly, and getting adequate sleep every night. If you are a heavy drinker or smoker, good luck getting anything to help you.

While this is not a scientific review I have been taking Niagen in one form or another non stop for several years. I have been gradually increasing my doses with what I can only describe as a profound effect. Without a doubt I feel younger than 46. I also think I look younger than most people my age. I certainly don't feel my age and have a ton of energy every single day. I also try to eat plenty of vegetables with lots of non meat proteins along with limited meat consumption. I am not a health nut but basically try to stay away excess sugars and processed foods whenever I can. I also do a hard bike ride once or twice a week. I think this also helps the entire aging process some.

This stuff is expensive and honestly, it's a leap of faith because whether this has life-extending capabilities is anyone's guess...and who's going to hold them to account? But my sleep is better/deeper. And my all-day energy is pretty good. No more mid-afternoon slumps. No changes to my cholesterol, which I had hoped it might impact. There really should be a discounted automatic replenishment program.
