If your chair is unable to adjust up and down then you may be in need of a new Hydraulic Lift Cylinder. FRNIAMC drafting stool chair gas lift cylinders are more heavy duty than standard chair gas lift cylinders. It is universal size is compatible with damaged or worn out hydraulic lifts on office drafting chairs, task chairs, executive chairs.it may not fit all. Please remove cylinder with care and measure to be sure. Minimal differences in measurements should not alter performance of lift when installed in chair.

I loved my new sewing chair I bought on Amazon 2 weeks before but it didn't go high enough for my bad knees. I still couldn't sit and sew for a long period of time and then I happened to see replacement cylinders. I measured and shopped for the tallest one and now my chair goes another 5 inches higher so my knees don't hurt when I stand up. I am overjoyed! Now I do t need to return my lovely purple chair for an ugly black drafting chair.

I have a stool I use to work in the kitchen, and the cylinder on this stool gave out. I purchased this replacement, knowing it would extend a couple of inches higher because I am tall and can use those extra inches at times. My only complaint is that it was VERY difficult to get the old cylinder off (and I now see why many of these cylinders come with a removal tool), but that's no fault of this product. And frankly, if I wasn't disabled it probably would NOT have been so hard to get off, and the handymen who did it for me (out for other odd jobs) had it off in less than a minute. This cylinder is very functional, lifting and lowering with ease (even with my weak, disabled hands), and looks very nice with its shiny chrome finish. It seems quite sturdy, and I expect it to last for years.

Installation is typical if you've ever replaced one of these on an office chair. The difficulty is not the fault of the replacement strut, but the old chair. It works great and it attractive.

From weight (heavier and harder metal used for the body) to throw (drafter chair for me: correct height - high) over what I had received with my stock chair are night and day. I'm glad I completed this upgrade. You don't have to second guess...it's a very good replacement part (8" throw and 450lb weight limit) is more than adequate. Find quick video on the Tube of U to refresh your "how to do" and you'll be sailing just fine. Mallet, Pipe Wrench (Monkey Bar), and that's all. Great product.

Needed a replacement for the new chair because the gas-cylinder was just to high on the lowest setting. Got first one that was to short but this one seems to be perfect. Can't tell how long it will last since just got it and installed it. It is a bit softer and goes a bit lower when you first sit on it on the highest setting but in our case it needs to go a bit lower anyway. It looks very sturdy but how long it will hold the gas is a different issue, only time will tell. The price was cheap enough anyway.

So far so good, does what it is supposed too, and is perfect for those who want their chair to rise slightly higher than a normal office chair.

For reference: I'm 5'11" and with the cylinder at full height, my feet do not touch the ground. My desk is at 32" or so, and is between a standard desk and a " standing" desk height... So my standard chair was too short, but most drafting chairs aren't comfortable for long term sitting. I put this on a standard big box office chair.

My chair broke , a replacement cost 100's a new gas lift £40 . a bit awkward getting the old one out but the replacement fits easily and has worked without fault for a few months now . beaware the is for a draughtmans stools so is longer than a normal chair . but at normal lowered height is the same as a chair at half raised ( about normal height) .
