This served my purposes, but at the end of the day, I thought it was of poor quality. It is engineered to run off the computer's power through the provided USB cable. This is fine if you're copying shorter length cassettes. But if you have extended length audio tapes like I did, the motor/low power input can't handle the tape load toward the end of the recording and slows down, making the final recorded audio drag. The cover and mechanisms inside seemed scratched and flimsy. Buttons were cheap. It looked to me like it had been built in some second-rate shop somewhere in a 3rd world country. In addition, had I realized earlier that it used Audacity as its software, I would have skipped buying it altogether. I already had Audacity and could have used it in conjunction with a regular tape player. If you want to convert audio cassettes to MP3, you don't need this at all as long as you already own a standard cassette player. Just buy a male to male audio cord, plug one end into the headphone jack of your cassette player, and the other end into the mic jack on your computer. Press play on cassette player and press record on Audacity. That simple. I would skip this if I had it to do all over again.

This product worked great. I was able to download the audacity software from the website, pretty quickly and easy. The product worked exactly as described. Although my wife looked at me when I was recording tapes that were almost 30 years old and said, "why don't you just buy the music off itunes?" Seems reasonable. But there is something to be said for listening to music that I listened to in high school. The quality of the recordings is going to be poor, especially with tapes that are pretty used. But that's not a knock on the product, it works great.

I have been playing guitar for over 55 years now and had many recordings of myself on cassette from many years ago playing professionally and making up songs and just jamming on many many songs at home. My home music room has been a place of enjoyment and pleasure for a long time now with all the recording equipment i.e. synthesizer, drum machines, and all the effects to support sound. I did purchase a Tascam digital recorder in 2013 so I could record to CD but had all the cassette recording from 30 years ago and was able to transfer those tunes from this ASINNO to my computer into iTunes and then record these cassette songs to CD. This little cassette worked out great and was happy to be able to transfer all those tunes to CD so I can listen to them in my old age.

I used it to transfer more than 300 cassettes to digital and that is all I used it for. I cleaned the roller and head every few tapes with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and had no problems. I did burn out the fast forward because it doesn't auto-stop and I wasn't paying attention a few times, but the rewind still works fine.

This was my 2nd tape to mp3 converter and it had exactly same problem as the last one (similar look & feel). They all have horrible audio drivers, you can't get thru a single side of a cassette w/o single completely dropping and you have to start over (if it's a continuous mix). Also make note: any cassette converter that looks like this one is made from the exact same cheap parts, with just a diff. company name on slapped on the cover. so don't be fooled.

My 16 yo son played a cassette using this player and the fast forward button stuck down and would not release. Had to remove the batteries. When replaced the batteries, and the tape, the fast forward button remained stuck down and the tape spindles kept spinning in fast forward motion. Could not get fast forward button to pop up no matter what action taken. No tape was able to be played and cassette player was therefore useless after 30 minutes of product use! When product received, the headphones in the box were already broken and also therefore useless too! I would not recommend this product to anyone! I buy a lot of items on Amazon. This is a piece of Sh#&t!! I would love my $$ back !!
